Allison once had its very own post office. This post office opened its doors on March 6, 1901. Having a local post office was very important for people living there. It made sending and receiving mail much easier. However, the post office eventually closed on December 15, 1921.

The community of Allison was named after a local school. This school was called Mount Allison. It was common for small communities to be named after important local landmarks, like schools or churches.
