What is Allison Harbour?

Allison Harbour is a natural inlet of the sea. It stretches north from Queen Charlotte Strait, which is a large body of water. The harbour is found southeast of Bramham Island. For many years, it was an important spot. It used to be home to a post office and a place where steamships would stop.

Features of the Harbour

The entrance to Allison Harbour has some underwater rocks called the Allison Reefs. These reefs can be tricky for boats. Nearby, there is a hill called Allison Cone. It stands about 185 metres (607 feet) tall. This hill is located between Shelter Bay and Cape Caution. Both Allison Cone and the reefs were named because of their closeness to Allison Harbour.

How Did Allison Harbour Get Its Name?

The name "Allison Harbour" was officially given in 1922. It was named after a man simply known as Mr. Allison. He was the manager of a logging company called the Smith-Dollar Lumber Company around that time. So, the harbour was named to honour his work in the area.
