The Kashmir paa frog, also known as the Hazara frog or Hazara torrent frog, is a type of frog. Its scientific name is Allopaa hazarensis. This frog belongs to the Dicroglossidae family.

You can find this special frog in Hazara, Pakistan. This is where it was first discovered, which is why it's named after Hazara. It also lives in the Kashmir region, which is part of both India and Pakistan.

Where the Hazara Frog Lives

The Hazara frog loves to live near fast-moving water. Its natural habitat includes quick-flowing streams. You might find it in very strong currents or in calmer pools within these streams.

How Tadpoles Survive

The young frogs, called tadpoles, have a special trick. They use their mouths like a suction cup! This helps them stick to rocks in the fast water. It stops them from being washed away by the strong currents.

Dangers to the Frog

Sometimes, there are long periods without rain. These droughts can dry up the streams where the frogs live. This is a big problem and a possible threat to the Hazara frog.

A Scientific Question

Scientists are still studying the Hazara frog. They are not completely sure if another frog, called Allopaa barmoachensis, is a separate species. It might be the same as Allopaa hazarensis. More research is needed to find out!
