Early Football Journey
Allyson Swaby played soccer for William Hall High School in Connecticut from 2010 to 2013. She also played youth soccer for Connecticut FC United from 2011 to 2014.
After high school, she played college soccer for the Boston College Eagles. She was a key player for four seasons, from 2014 to 2017.
Professional Club Career
Starting in Europe
Allyson began her professional journey in Europe in 2018. She joined an Icelandic team called Fjarðab/Höttur/Leiknir. She played 12 games and scored 5 goals during her time there.
Her strong play caught the eye of Roma, a top Italian club. Roma signed Allyson to help their team in their first season in Italy's top league.
Time with Roma
During the 2018–19 season, Allyson quickly became a regular player for Roma. She could play as a central defender or a full-back. After her first season with Roma, she played for Jamaica in the 2019 World Cup.
In her second season, Allyson became even more important to Roma's defense. She was one of the most consistent players on the team. Roma showed how much they valued her by signing her to a multi-year contract in March 2020.
In her third season, Allyson teamed up with new player Elena Linari in defense. Together, they helped Roma let in fewer goals. On May 30, 2021, Allyson helped Roma win their first major trophy. They beat AC Milan in the Coppa Italia final after a penalty shootout.
Moving to the United States and Loan to PSG
On December 21, 2021, Angel City FC, a new team in the National Women's Soccer League in the U.S., announced that Allyson would join them. She said she wanted to be closer to her family. She signed a two-year contract with an option to extend.
On January 26, 2023, Angel City announced that Allyson would go on a six-month loan to Paris Saint-Germain in France. PSG confirmed the loan until June 2023.
Return to Italy and Move to England
After playing in the World Cup, Allyson moved back to Italy. Angel City transferred her to AC Milan. Her contract with AC Milan was set to run until June 2026.
On January 30, 2025, Crystal Palace in England signed Allyson from AC Milan. Her contract with Crystal Palace runs until June 2027. She played her first game for Crystal Palace on February 11, 2025. It was a 2-0 win against Newcastle United in the FA Cup fifth round.
International Career for Jamaica
Allyson Swaby started playing for the Jamaica national team in 2018. She played in the CONCACAF Women's Championship and helped Jamaica qualify for the 2019 World Cup. She then played in the World Cup tournament in the summer of 2019.
In the summer of 2021, Allyson became the captain of the Jamaica national team for the first time. On January 4, 2022, the Jamaica Football Federation named her the 2021 female player of the year.
