Alona Tal (born October 20, 1983) is an actress and singer from Israel. She is well-known for playing Meg Manning in the TV show Veronica Mars. She also played Jo Harvelle in Supernatural, Sonya Lebedenko in Burn Notice, and Stella Baxter in SEAL Team. More recently, she appeared as Kayla Craig in the miniseries Cross.
Early Life and Beginnings
Alona Tal was born and grew up in Herzliya, Israel. Her father is a computer expert, and her mother is a lawyer. Both of her parents were born in Israel. Alona has two sisters and two half-sisters. She went to Thelma Yellin High School in Givatayim, Israel, where she studied theater. She is Jewish and considers herself a "spiritual person." Before starting her acting career, she served in the Israeli army's theater group.
Alona's Acting Journey
Alona started her career after her time in the army. Her first role was in a children's musical video where she played a witch. After that, she appeared in a TV commercial. Then, she got a main role in an Israeli movie called Lihiyot Kochav (which means To Be A Star).
While filming the movie, Alona was offered roles in two different Israeli TV shows. She took both. The first was a soap opera called Tzimerim, which was about a family running a hotel. The second was HaPijamot (The Pyjamas), a funny show about a band trying to become famous. She was a main character in the first three seasons of HaPijamot. She also returned as a guest star later, which allowed her to show her singing talent.
Alona later moved to New York City in the United States. There, she recorded a song with the famous musician Wyclef Jean. The song, called "Party to Damascus", features Alona singing the chorus in Hebrew.
She then got a role in the American TV show Veronica Mars. She played Meg Manning, who was one of Veronica Mars's few friends. Alona also had a recurring role as Jo Harvelle in the popular show Supernatural. She appeared in the second, fifth, and seventh seasons of that show.
In 2010, Alona lent her voice to the character Catherine-B320, also known as Kat, in the video game Halo: Reach. She also appeared in the final episode of the TV show Monk as Adrian Monk's stepdaughter, Molly Evans. In 2013, she starred in the mystery series Cult. She also played the character "Sonya" in the seventh and last season of Burn Notice.
More recently, in November 2020, Alona Tal was cast as Ivy in the second season of the drama series Truth be Told. From 2017 to 2024, she had a recurring role as Stella in the military drama SEAL Team. In 2024, she played Kayla Craig in the miniseries Cross.
Personal Life
On March 23, 2005, Alona Tal married American actor Marcos A. Ferraez. In October 2016, she shared at a Supernatural event that she was expecting her first child. She has two daughters. Her first daughter was born in March 2017, and her second daughter was born in September 2022.
