Noa Tohar Tishby is an Israeli actress and activist. She was born in May 1975. Noa has appeared in many American TV shows and movies. Some of these include The Affair, The Island, and NCIS.
She is also a co-executive producer for the HBO series In Treatment. This show is based on an Israeli series called BeTipul. Her company, Noa's Arc, has helped bring other Israeli TV shows to American audiences.
Noa Tishby is very active in supporting Israel. In 2011, she started an organization called Act for Israel. In 2021, she wrote her first book, Israel: A Simple Guide to the Most Misunderstood Country on Earth. From 2022 to 2023, she worked as a Special Envoy for Combating Antisemitism and the Delegitimization of Israel.

Early life and beginnings
Noa Tishby was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, in May 1975. Her family is Jewish and helped create the country of Israel. Her grandfather helped start one of the first kibbutz (a type of community) in Israel.
Noa started acting when she was very young. She was in commercials by age 8. As a teenager, she won a drama scholarship. She performed in plays and TV shows. She also served two and a half years in the Israel Defense Forces, which is Israel's military.
Career in entertainment
Noa Tishby became famous in Israel in the 1990s. She appeared in the Israeli TV show Ramat Aviv Gimmel. She also played Anita in a play called West Side Story. She released an English music album and worked as a model.
In the early 2000s, she moved to Los Angeles, USA. By 2006, Noa had many roles on American TV shows. These included Star Trek, Nip/Tuck, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. She also had a part in the 2005 movie The Island.
In 2008, Noa Tishby helped sell the Israeli TV show BeTipul to HBO. This was the first time an Israeli show format became an American TV series. The American version, In Treatment, started in 2008. Noa was a co-executive producer, working with Mark Wahlberg.
In Treatment ran for three seasons until 2010. It came back for a fourth season in 2021, with Noa still as a producer. The show is about therapy sessions. It won a Peabody Award in 2009. Noa also continued acting in shows like NCIS and Big Love.
Through her company, Noa's Arc, she helped adapt other Israeli shows for American TV. These included A Touch Away and Life Isn't Everything. The latter was renamed Divorce: A Love Story for its American version.
Activism and advocacy
Noa Tishby has been an activist for Israel since at least 2011. That year, she started Act for Israel. This group works online to support Israel. Noa created it to correct wrong information about Israel's history and culture.
She has spoken out against the BDS movement. She believes it spreads "misinformation" and "lies." She also called Amnesty International's description of Israel as an apartheid state "disgraceful."
In 2014, she started Reality Israel. This program offers "leadership trips" to Israel for both Jewish and non-Jewish people. She spoke at the United Nations General Assembly in New York City in 2016 and 2018. In 2021, she joined the Black–Jewish Entertainment Alliance.
In April 2021, her first book was published. It is called Israel: A Simple Guide to the Most Misunderstood Country on Earth. The book talks about Israel's history and culture. It also includes parts of her own life story. In the book, Noa supports Israel and criticizes the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.
In April 2022, Noa Tishby was appointed Special Envoy for Combating Antisemitism and the Delegitimization of Israel. This was a new position. She was dismissed from this role in April 2023. This happened after she spoke against a proposed judicial reform by the new government.
During the Gaza war, Noa Tishby has been a strong voice for Israel in the U.S. In 2024, she wrote about how social media contributes to rising antisemitism. She suggested that social media companies should improve content moderation. She also called for governments to strengthen laws against hate speech.
In 2024, she published her second book about antisemitism. It is called Uncomfortable Conversations with a Jew. She wrote it with African-American activist Emmanuel Acho.
Personal life
Noa Tishby was married to Australian TV presenter Osher Günsberg from 2008 to 2011. Later, she had a son named Ari in November 2015 with financier Ross Hinkle. Noa and Ross are no longer together but they co-parent Ari. She remains on good terms with both her former husband and Ari's father.
In 2022, Noa Tishby signed the Jewish Future Pledge. This is a campaign that encourages American Jews to give at least half of their charity donations to Jewish or Israel-related causes.
