Mark Robert Michael Wahlberg (born June 5, 1971), also known as Marky Mark, is an American actor and former rapper. He has starred in many movies, including comedies, dramas, and action films. Mark Wahlberg has won several awards and has been nominated for many others, like the Academy Awards and Golden Globe Awards.
He first became famous in the 1990s as a member of the hip hop group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. After his music career, he started acting. His first big movie role was in Fear (1996).

Mark Robert Michael Wahlberg was born on June 5, 1971, in Dorchester, a neighborhood in Boston, Massachusetts. He is the youngest of nine children. His brothers include actor Robert Wahlberg and singer/actor Donnie Wahlberg. His mother, Alma Elaine, worked as a bank clerk and nurse's aide. His father, Donald Edmond Wahlberg Sr., was a delivery driver and a veteran of the Korean War. His parents divorced in 1982.
Mark Wahlberg has Swedish, Irish, English, and French-Canadian family roots. He was raised Catholic and went to Copley Square High School in Boston.

Mark Wahlberg first became known as the younger brother of Donnie Wahlberg, who was in the famous boy band New Kids on the Block. Mark was actually one of the first members of New Kids on the Block when he was 13, but he left the group after a few months.
In 1990, Mark Wahlberg started a hip hop group called Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. They had a big hit song called "Good Vibrations" from their first album, Music for the People. This song reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Their second single, "Wildside", also did well. Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch even had their own video game. Their second album, You Gotta Believe, was not as successful.
Later, Mark Wahlberg worked with reggae singer Prince Ital Joe on an album called Life in the Streets. This album mixed rap, electronic music, and dance music. Some of their songs, like "Happy People" and "United," were very popular in Germany.

In 2013, Mark Wahlberg bought a part of the Barbados Tridents cricket team. He said he became a big cricket fan and was excited to be part of the league.

Personal Life
Mark Wahlberg started dating Rhea Durham in 2001. They had three children before they got married on August 1, 2009, in Beverly Hills. They had another child in January 2010.
Mark Wahlberg is Catholic and has said his religion is very important to him. He attends Mass twice on Sundays. He supports same-sex marriage, even though the Church has a different view. In 2023, he talked about how fasting and prayer during Lent are meaningful to him.
In May 2001, Mark Wahlberg started the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation. This foundation helps raise money for programs that support young people. He also works with The Good Shepherd Center, which helps homeless women and children.
