Alpena /ælˈpiːnə/ is a small town located in the state of Arkansas, United States. It is special because it sits across two different counties: Boone and Carroll.
In 2020, about 374 people lived in Alpena. The part of Alpena that is in Boone County is also considered part of the Harrison area.

History of Alpena
Alpena started as a place called Alpena Pass in 1908. This was soon after a railroad, the Missouri and North Arkansas Railroad, was built through Boone County. In the 1950s, the word "Pass" was removed from the name, and it became just Alpena.
When Alpena was founded, a nearby town called Carrollton was becoming less important. Many buildings from Carrollton were taken apart, moved, and put back together in Alpena Pass.

Alpena is located at 36°17′37″N 93°17′46″W / 36.293713°N 93.296233°W. The town covers a total area of about 3.5 square kilometers (1.4 square miles). All of this area is land.

- Brandon Burlsworth was an All-American football player for the Arkansas Razorbacks. He sadly passed away in Alpena in 1999.
