Alpha is a small, quiet place in Kingfisher County, Oklahoma, United States. It's what we call an unincorporated community. This means it's not officially a town or city with its own local government. Instead, it's just a group of homes and land that are part of the larger county. Alpha sits about 1,165 feet (355 meters) above sea level. It is located about 5.5 miles (8.9 km) east of another community called Omega.

What is Alpha?

Alpha is a place that used to be a bit more active. For a short time, it even had its own post office. A post office is where people send and receive mail. The post office in Alpha opened on November 7, 1893. However, it didn't stay open for very long. It closed just ten years later, on December 14, 1903. This often happens in very small communities that don't grow much.

The Alpha Schoolhouse

One of the most important parts of Alpha's history is its school. The Alpha school district was a group of schools in the area. This district closed down in 1947. This meant that children from Alpha had to go to school in other nearby towns.

The very last building left in Alpha was the Alpha Schoolhouse. This old school building was a special part of the community's past. To make sure it was preserved, the schoolhouse was carefully moved. In 2005, it was taken to the Frontier Country Historical Society Museum. This museum is located in a town called Crescent. Moving the schoolhouse helped save it so people can still learn about Alpha's history today.
