Alsodes montanus is a type of frog that lives in the mountains. It's often called the mountain frog because of where it lives. This special frog belongs to a group of frogs called Alsodidae. You can find it mainly in Chile, a country in South America, and maybe also in Argentina.

About the Mountain Frog
The Alsodes montanus is a small amphibian, which means it can live both on land and in water. Like all frogs, it starts its life as a tadpole in water before growing into an adult frog.
Where the Mountain Frog Lives
This frog prefers cool, natural places. Its favorite homes are temperate shrubland areas. These are places with lots of bushes and small trees that grow in mild climates. You can also find these frogs living near rivers, as they need water to lay their eggs and for their young to grow.
Why the Mountain Frog is in Danger
Sadly, the Alsodes montanus is facing a big problem: habitat loss. This means that the natural places where it lives are disappearing. When forests are cut down or rivers get polluted, the frogs lose their homes and can't find food or safe places to raise their young. Because of this, the number of Alsodes montanus frogs is getting smaller, and they are considered a threatened species.
