Altiplano Nariñense facts for kids
The Altiplano Nariñense, also called the Nariño plateau, is a high, flat area. It is located in the eastern mountain range of the Andes mountains in southern Colombia. This region is found in the Nariño and Putumayo areas.
The Altiplano Nariñense includes three main flat parts. These are the Túquerres and Ipiales plateau, the Atriz valley, and the Sibundoy valley. Many people live in this region. It has several cities and towns. The most important cities are San Juan de Pasto, Ipiales, and Túquerres.
The average height of this plateau is about 2,700 meters (8,858 feet) above sea level. It has a mountain climate. The temperature changes with how high up you are. Temperatures usually range from 10 to 23 degrees Celsius (50 to 73 degrees Fahrenheit).
