Altishofen is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the canton of Lucerne in Switzerland. It's part of the Willisau district. On January 1, 2020, another nearby town called Ebersecken joined with Altishofen.

History of Altishofen
Altishofen was first mentioned in old writings around the years 1184 to 1190. Back then, it was known by names like Alteloshovin or Alteloshoven.
Geography of Altishofen
Altishofen covers an area of about 5.7 square kilometers (about 2.2 square miles). A big part of this land, about 51%, is used for farming. Forests cover another large section, about 38.5%. The rest of the land, about 10.1%, has buildings or roads on it. A very small part (0.3%) is made up of rivers or other non-productive areas.
The town is located in a valley called the Wiggertal, named after the Wigger River. Altishofen includes the main village and a smaller area called Eichbühl.

Altishofen has a population of 1,959 people. About 14.2% of the people living in Altishofen are not Swiss citizens. Over the last ten years, the number of people living here has grown by about 7.4%.
Most people in Altishofen speak German (about 90.4%). Albanian is the second most common language (2.5%), followed by Serbo-Croatian (2.3%).

In the 2007 election, the most popular political group was the CVP. They received about 59.5% of the votes. Other popular groups included the SVP (16.9%), the FDP (13.4%), and the Green Party (5.4%).
