To find Foss River Road, you'll turn off US Highway 2 around mile marker 50.5. This spot is just east of the Skykomish Ranger Station. The trail continues past Alturas Lake, eventually leading to another beautiful spot called Jade Lake.
Wilderness Permits
Because Alturas Lake is inside the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, you need a special permit to visit. This is called a self-issued Alpine Lake Wilderness permit.
