Alvin Cyrrale Robertson (born July 22, 1962) is a famous American former professional basketball player. He played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for many years. Alvin Robertson was known for being one of the best at stealing the ball. He holds the record for the most steals per game in NBA history. He is also the only guard to ever get a "quadruple-double" in a game. This means he reached double digits in four different stats!

Early Life and College
Alvin Cyrrale Robertson was born in Barberton, Ohio, on July 22, 1962. He loved playing basketball from a young age.
He went to Crowder College from 1980 to 1981. After that, he played college basketball at the University of Arkansas from 1981 to 1984.
Professional Basketball Career
Alvin Robertson was picked by the San Antonio Spurs in the 1984 NBA Draft. He was the seventh player chosen overall. He was 6 feet 4 inches tall and played as a shooting guard.
San Antonio Spurs (1984–1989)
Robertson played for the Spurs for five seasons. He was known for his amazing defense. In 1984, he was part of the U.S. Olympic team that won a gold medal.
In 1986, Alvin Robertson won the NBA Most Improved Player Award. This award goes to a player who has gotten much better. He also won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award that same year. This award is for the best defensive player in the league.
He was chosen to play in the National Basketball Association All-Star Game four times. He led the NBA in steals three times. He still holds the record for the most steals per game in NBA history.
Robertson was also one of only four NBA players ever to get a quadruple-double. This means he had double-digit numbers in four different stats in one game. On February 18, 1986, he had 20 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 steals! He is the only player who isn't a center to do this. He is also the only player to get a quadruple-double using steals as one of the categories.
Milwaukee Bucks (1989–1993)
In 1989, Robertson was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. He continued to be a top defender there. He led the league in steal percentage for three full seasons. He was also an All-Star again in 1991. That year, he led the league in steals for the third time.
Detroit Pistons (1993)
Alvin Robertson finished the 1992–93 NBA season playing for the Detroit Pistons. After this, he faced some challenges with injuries.
Toronto Raptors (1995–1996)
Robertson made history with the Toronto Raptors. He scored the very first points for the team! This happened in their first-ever game.
Florida Beach Dogs (1996–1997)
After his NBA career, Robertson played for the Florida Beach Dogs. This was in the Continental Basketball Association.
Family Life
Alvin Robertson has two sons who are also athletes. His son, Tyrell Johnson, played professional football for the Minnesota Vikings. His other son, Elgin Cook, is a professional basketball player. Alvin's brother, Ken Robertson, also played college basketball.
