The American Tea Room was a special shop that sold many kinds of tea and items used for making tea. It was also an online store and a cafe where people could enjoy tea. The main store was in Beverly Hills, California. The company closed down all its operations on March 8, 2018. The American Tea Room was even mentioned in the end credits of the video game Outer Wilds.
What They Sold
Different Teas
American Tea Room offered a wide variety of teas, with over 200 different kinds from all over the world. Their selection changed with the seasons. They sold rare teas from single farms, special mixed teas, and herbal teas (which are made from plants, not tea leaves). They also had matcha (a finely ground green tea), blooming teas (which open up beautifully in hot water), and popular blends like Earl Grey and English Breakfast. Most of their teas were USDA Organic, meaning they were grown without certain chemicals.
Tea Accessories
Besides tea, American Tea Room also sold many items you need to make and enjoy tea. These included porcelain, glass, and cast iron teapots, along with teacups. They also had tools for scooping, steeping (which means soaking tea leaves in hot water to make the drink), and storing tea. For those who enjoyed matcha, they offered special bowls, whisks, and scoops designed just for that type of tea.
Store Locations
American Tea Room had stores in a few different places. They were located in Beverly Hills, Downtown Los Angeles, and Newport Beach.
