The Amiga was a special type of personal computer made by a company called Commodore International. These computers were popular in the 1980s and early 1990s. Many people thought the Amiga was very advanced for its time.
The first Amiga computer, called the Amiga 1000, came out in 1985. It had amazing features that were not common back then. It could show 4096 colors on the screen. It also had a special chip that could play four different sounds at the same time.
The Amiga used an operating system that allowed for multitasking. This meant you could run many programs at once. It also had a graphical user interface, which made it easy to use with a mouse. These features made the Amiga stand out from other computers.
Even though the Amiga didn't sell as many units as some other computers, it became very popular with certain groups. Gamers loved it for its great graphics and sound. People interested in video and graphics also found it very useful.
The Amiga was first created by a computer chip designer named Jay Miner and a company called Hi-Toro. This company later became Amiga Corporation. In 1984, Commodore bought Amiga Corporation. Sadly, Commodore went out of business in 1994.
