Amir Abedini (Persian: امیر عابدینی) was born Hassan Abedini on December 13, 1949. He is a well-known Iranian politician and a leader in the world of football. He used to be a professional football player and has also served as a member of the City Council of Tehran.
Amir Abedini's Political Journey
Amir Abedini has held important roles in the government. In the 1980s, he worked as a governor in three different provinces of Iran. A governor is like a leader for a specific region, helping to manage its affairs and people.
- From 1981 to 1984, he was the governor of Lorestan province.
- From 1984 to 1987, he served as the governor of East Azerbaijan province.
- From 1987 to 1989, he was the governor of Khorasan province.
Later, from 2000 to 2003, Amir Abedini was a member of the Islamic City Council of Tehran. This council helps make decisions for the city of Tehran, similar to a city council in other countries.
Amir Abedini's Football Career
Before his political work, Amir Abedini was a football player. He played for famous Iranian clubs like Persepolis and Paykan in the 1960s.
After his playing days, he became a leader in football management. He was the chairman of the Persepolis Athletic and Cultural Club for many years, from 1993 to 2001. A chairman is like the head of a club, overseeing its operations and making big decisions. He also served as the president of the Iranian Football Federation for a short time in 1994.
Today, he is the chairman of two other football clubs: Damash Iranian and Damash Gilan.
