The Amiskwi River is a cool stream in British Columbia, Canada. It flows for about 31.5 kilometers (19.6 miles). This river is a major branch of the Kicking Horse River.

The name Amiskwi comes from the Cree language. It means Beavertail. Long ago, people sometimes called it the Beavertail River. Another old name for it was the North Branch Kicking Horse River.

Where Does the Amiskwi River Flow?

The Amiskwi River is the longest river that flows into the Kicking Horse River. It starts high up at a place called Amiskwi Pass.

From there, it flows south for about 20 kilometers (12 miles). Then, it turns and flows southeast for about 11.5 kilometers (7.1 miles). Finally, it joins the Kicking Horse River. It meets the Kicking Horse River in almost the same spot as the Emerald River.
