Kids Encyclopedia Facts

This is a list of characters from the animated TV show The Owl House. It was created by Dana Terrace and shown on Disney Channel. The show is about a human girl named Luz who finds a portal to a magical world called the Boiling Isles. There, she becomes friends with a powerful witch named Eda and a small demon named King.

Main Characters

Luz Noceda

Luz Noceda (voiced by Sarah-Nicole Robles) is a 14-year-old girl from the human world. She loves fantasy and magic. Luz finds herself in the Boiling Isles and becomes Eda's student. She also attends Hexside Academy. Luz feels like she doesn't fit in sometimes. She learns to do magic by drawing special symbols called glyphs. At Hexside, she becomes the first student allowed to learn all types of magic. At the end of season one, Luz has to destroy the portal to stop Emperor Belos from invading her home.

In season two, Luz teaches Eda and Lilith about glyph magic. She looks for a way back home. She finds out that a creature named Vee was pretending to be her on Earth. Luz convinces her mom, Camila, to take care of Vee. Luz promises her mom she will return to Earth for good. She later learns her father passed away when she was young. Luz and Amity Blight become a couple. Luz helps stop the Day of Unity. She returns to the human world with Amity, Gus, Willow, and Hunter. She reunites with her mother.

In season three, Luz goes back to the Boiling Isles with her friends and mom. She gets a palisman, a magical companion, named Stringbean. Luz becomes friends with the Collector. She learns that King's parent, the Titan, helped her with her glyph magic. Luz sacrifices herself to save the Collector from Belos. The Titan's spirit gives Luz power, bringing her back to life. She defeats Belos with Eda, King, and Raine. Luz can now live in both the human and demon worlds. When she turns 18, her friends throw a party for her. King teaches her new glyphs, as her old ones disappeared with the Titan.

Eda Clawthorne

Edalyn "Eda" Clawthorne (voiced by Wendie Malick) is known as "The Owl Lady." She is a powerful witch and Luz's teacher. Eda is wanted by the law for various reasons, like selling human items. Her teaching style is wild, but she knows a lot about magic. Eda went to Hexside School when she was younger. She makes a deal with Principal Bump for Luz to attend Hexside. Eda has a curse that turns her into an owl beast. She needs to drink an elixir daily to control it.

Eda's sister, Lilith, cursed her when they were younger. Lilith shares the curse with Eda, which weakens their magic but helps Eda. In season two, Eda learns to live without her full power. She reunites with her ex-partner, Raine Whispers. Eda faces her owl-beast side and gains the ability to turn into a harpy-like owl creature. During the Day of Unity, Eda joins a rebel group to stop the ceremony. She and King reunite with Luz. They work together to befriend the Collector and defeat Belos. In the future, Eda becomes a teacher for wild magic.

King

King Clawthorne (voiced by Alex Hirsch) is a small demon with a skull-like head. He lives with Eda and calls himself the "King of Demons." King is confident and bossy. He was scared of Luz at first but became her friend. King wants to be seen as "cool" and gain followers. He cares about Eda and Luz.

In season two, King learns his true origin. Eda found him as a baby on an island. She accidentally made him believe he was the King of Demons. He discovers he is a Titan, a giant creature. This news makes him question his goals. King accepts himself after meeting Steve. King stops the Day of Unity by freeing the Collector. His father had sealed the Collector away long ago. King sends Luz and her friends to the human world to protect them. He spends time with the Collector and realizes he is lonely, not evil. King reunites with Luz and Eda. He helps them befriend the Collector and defeat Belos. In the future, King's growing Titan powers let him create new glyphs for Luz to learn.

Hooty

Hooty (voiced by Alex Hirsch) is the house demon of the Owl House. He looks like a barn owl and uses the owl-headed doorknocker to interact with the world. He can stretch his neck very far. Hooty often acts strange. He likes to be mysterious and tell riddles. He feels everything that happens to the house.

In season two, Hooty becomes friends with Lilith. He helps her get fire bee honey. Hooty can remove himself from the door and attach to other things. He becomes a supportive friend to Luz, Eda, and King. Hooty is classified as a Bug Demon. He can even remove his skin to show his skeleton.

Supporting Characters

Willow Park

Willow Park (voiced by Tati Gabrielle) is a student at Hexside and a friend to Luz, Amity, Gus, and Hunter. She is good at plant magic. She was first in the Abomination Track because her parents wanted her to be. Other students bullied her, calling her "Half-a-Witch Willow." Luz helps her, and Willow uses her plant magic to save Luz. Principal Bump sees this and lets her switch to the Plant Track. Willow becomes confident and calm. She and Amity were childhood friends. Willow learns that Amity's parents made her stop being friends with her. Willow forgives Amity. Willow has two fathers, Gilbert and Harvey Park.

In season two, Willow gets her own staff and a bee palisman named Clover. She starts a Flying Derby team with Gus, Skara, Viney, and Hunter. She becomes more appreciative of Hunter after he helps them. Willow goes to the human realm with Luz and her friends. She returns to the Boiling Isles and faces Boscha. She overcomes her self-doubt with Hunter's help. In the future, Willow continues to play flying derby.

Gus Porter

Augustus "Gus" Porter (voiced by Issac Ryan Brown) is a student at Hexside. He is a friend to Luz, Amity, Willow, and Hunter. Gus is skilled in illusion magic. He loves human culture and is amazed by Luz. He is younger than Luz and Willow but is in their grade because he skipped grades. Gus was the president of the Human Appreciation Society. He is confident and speaks his mind. His father, Perry, is a news reporter.

In season two, Gus gets his own staff and a blue chameleon palisman named Emmiline Bailey Marcostimo. He joins Willow's Flying Derby team and becomes friends with Hunter. Gus learns that he had trouble making friends before Willow. His illusion powers are strong but can get out of control when he is stressed. Gus goes to the human realm with Luz and her friends. He returns to help defeat the Collector and Belos. In the future, Gus becomes a teacher at the wild magic university.

Amity Blight

Amity Blight (voiced by Mae Whitman) is a student at Hexside. She is an expert in abomination magic and works at the Bonesborough Library. She is Luz's girlfriend and a friend to Willow and Gus. At first, Amity was cold and bullied others. Luz accidentally causes her trouble. Amity blames Luz but is surprised when Luz is kind to her. Amity slowly becomes more friendly. She realizes Luz never meant harm and becomes fascinated by her. They bond over their shared love for The Good Witch Azura.

Amity's parents, especially her mother Odalia, controlled her. Odalia made her stop being friends with Willow. Thanks to Luz, Amity makes up with Willow and ends her friendship with Boscha. Amity develops a crush on Luz. In season two, Amity stands up to her mother. She dyes her hair lilac because Odalia forced her to have green hair. Amity and Luz officially become a couple. Amity gets her own staff and a cat palisman named Ghost. She tells her father, Alador, that she doesn't want to join a coven. Amity disowns her mother for working with Belos. She goes to the human realm with Luz and her friends. She returns and cuts Boscha out of her life. In the future, Amity becomes an abomination engineer.

Hunter

Hunter (voiced by Zeno Robinson) was the Golden Guard, Emperor Belos's nephew and enforcer. He is a prodigy in magic. Hunter became head of the Emperor's Coven after Lilith left. He is the latest in a series of clones called grimwalkers. Belos created them in the image of his brother, Caleb. Hunter develops an interest in wild magic. He works with Luz to save palismen. Hunter gets his own staff and a cardinal palisman named Flapjack. Flapjack has a good influence on him. Hunter tries to force Willow's team to join the Emperor's Coven but realizes it's wrong. He rescues them, earning Darius's respect. He becomes Luz's informant in the Emperor's Coven.

In "Hollow Mind," Hunter learns Belos's true nature and his own origin. His loyalty to Belos is shattered. He flees and becomes friends with Gus. Hunter is stranded in the human realm with Luz and her friends. He finds new interests there. Belos possesses him, and Flapjack sacrifices himself to save Hunter. Hunter struggles with grief but helps Willow. He discovers he has some of Flapjack's magic, letting him teleport. In the future, Hunter works as a palisman carver.

Lilith Clawthorne

Lilith Clawthorne (voiced by Cissy Jones) is Eda's older sister. She was the leader of the Emperor's Coven. Lilith and Eda have a difficult relationship. Lilith cursed Eda when they were younger because she was jealous of Eda's magic. She made a deal with Emperor Belos to try and cure Eda. Lilith betrays Belos to help Luz. She splits the curse with Eda, weakening both of them but helping Eda.

In season two, Lilith lives in the Owl House and tries to make up with Eda. She becomes friends with Hooty. Lilith makes amends with her mother, Gwendolyn. She leaves the Owl House and gets a job at the Supernatural Museum of History. She develops an aunt-niece relationship with Luz. Lilith returns to help stop the Day of Unity. She tries to free everyone from the Collector's spells. In the future, Lilith becomes a teacher and archaeologist. She also unlocks her own harpy form.

Hieronymus Bump

Hieronymus Bump (voiced by Bumper Robinson) is the principal of Hexside School. He wears a demon-shaped hat. He seems strict but is reasonable. Principal Bump allows Luz to attend Hexside. He agrees to keep the deal secret from the Emperor's Coven. He used to be the vice-principal. He becomes more accepting of students learning more than one type of magic after Luz saves the school. Bump disapproves of Belos's plan to petrify Eda.

In season two, Bump enjoys Luz's presence at school. He is forced to expel Luz, Gus, and Willow but doesn't want to. His hat is actually his palisman, Frewin, which helps him see. When Hexside is raided, Bump and the students hide. He is captured by the Collector but later revived. In the future, Bump retires from being principal.

Camila Noceda

Camila Noceda (voiced by Elizabeth Grullon) is Luz's mother. She sent Luz to summer camp to help her imagination. She didn't know Luz was in the Boiling Isles. Camila later discovers the truth about Luz and Vee. She decides to take care of Vee. Camila is sad about Luz staying in the Boiling Isles. She and Luz used to collect flowers to remember Luz's father.

In "King's Tide," Camila reunites with Luz and meets her friends. She accepts Luz's new life. She decides to join Luz and her friends in the Demon Realm. Camila was similar to Luz when she was younger. She sent Luz to camp to protect her.

Antagonists

Emperor Belos

Emperor Belos (voiced by Matthew Rhys) is a mysterious and powerful ruler of the Boiling Isles. He is later revealed to be Philip Wittebane (voiced by Alex Lawther), a human witch hunter. Philip came to the Boiling Isles centuries ago. He killed his brother Caleb for falling in love with a witch. Philip became Belos to take over the Boiling Isles. He banned "wild magic" and made witches join covens. He used magic from palismen to live longer. His goal was the Day of Unity, which would kill witches and demons.

Belos tricked Lilith and tried to get the portal from Luz. He repaired the portal and got Titan's Blood. He also bought an army of Abomatons. Belos resurrected the Basilisk race to study their magic-draining abilities. In "Hollow Mind," Luz and Hunter enter his mind. Hunter learns Belos's true identity and evil plans. Belos's plans for the Day of Unity begin. He is affected by the draining spell and turns into a monster. King frees the Collector, who stops the spell and destroys Belos's body. A piece of Belos lands on Hunter. Belos possesses Raine and then the Titan's heart. He infects the Boiling Isles. A Titan-powered Luz defeats him. Eda, King, and Raine stomp his remains, destroying him for good.

The Collector

The Collector (voiced by Fryda Wolff) is a powerful, childlike being from beyond the stars. He wants to befriend others. The Collector was sealed away by King's father. Belos found and manipulated him. The Collector taught Belos the Day of Unity spell in exchange for freedom. When Belos breaks his promise, the Collector is freed by King. He destroys Belos and wants to play "Owl House" with everyone. He turns most residents into puppets.

The Collector takes King as his playmate. King tries to reason with him. Belos tricks the Collector into thinking King is against him. The Collector puts Luz, Eda, and King in dream scenarios. He reveals his full story to them. They show him true friendship. When Belos possesses the Titan's heart, Luz sacrifices herself to save the Collector. He realizes the value of life. After Luz is revived, the Collector helps her friends. He restores everyone from his spell. The Collector decides to grow up but promises to visit. He creates a permanent portal for Luz.

Kikimora

Kikimora (voiced by Mela Lee) is Belos's assistant. She often fights people and gives orders. Her hair looks like a hand. She rarely appeared in season one.

In season two, Kikimora shows her ruthless side. She tries to kill Hunter to get credit. She fails but sees Hunter's injury. She sees Hunter as her rival. Kikimora briefly teams up with Luz and her friends. She turns on them for a promotion. She learns the promotion was just Belos letting her live. She is later demoted. Kikimora helps King reach the Collector to get back at Belos. After the Collector's takeover, she influences Boscha. Luz and her friends convince Boscha to turn on Kikimora. In the future, Kikimora helps rebuild the Boiling Isles.

Odalia Blight

Odalia Blight (voiced by Rachael MacFarlane) is Amity's mother. She has high standards for her children. She wanted Amity to join the Emperor's Coven. She runs Blight Industries, which makes abomination defense systems. She tries to expel Luz, Willow, and Gus from Hexside. Amity threatens to destroy her factory, so Odalia lets them back in. Odalia knows the truth about the Day of Unity. She doesn't care as long as she gets to live like royalty. Her factory is destroyed, and she flees. She is later forced to serve the Collector.

Other Characters

Palismen

Palismen are magical companions that sit on a witch's staff. They are acquired by witches during their education.

  • Bat Queen (voiced by Isabella Rossellini) is a large bat-like being. She looks after forgotten and broken palismen. She was once a palisman herself.
  • Owlbert is Eda's owl palisman. He can come to life and move on his own. Eda made him by hand.
  • Lilith's palisman is a white raven or crow.
  • Clover is Willow's bee palisman. She matches Willow's kind and strong personality.
  • Emmiline Bailey Marcostimo is Gus's blue chameleon palisman. He helps Gus want to be an ambassador to the human realm.
  • Frewin is Bump's small red devil palisman. He sits on Bump's head and helps him see.
  • Flapjack is Hunter's cardinal palisman. He was originally Caleb's palisman, Belos's brother. Flapjack sacrifices his life to revive Hunter.
  • Ghost is Amity's cat palisman.
  • Stringbean is Luz's palisman. She hatches into a "snake-shifter" when Luz realizes her deepest desire is to be understood.

Coven Heads

These are the leaders of the different magic Covens.

  • Raine Whispers (voiced by Avi Roque) is the Head of the Bard Coven. They are Eda's childhood friend. Raine leads a rebel group called the Bards Against the Throne (BATS). They suffer from stage fright. Raine is captured for the Day of Unity. They pretend to be controlled by Belos but are secretly working against him with Darius. Raine renames their group the Covens Against the Throne (CATS). Raine is nearly killed by the draining spell but is saved by the Collector. Raine is later possessed by Belos. After being restored, Raine helps defeat Belos.
  • Darius Deamonne (voiced by Keston John) is the Head of the Abomination Coven. He can turn into an abomination. Darius dislikes Alador Blight. He initially finds Hunter annoying but later respects him. Darius secretly opposes Belos's plans with Eberwolf and Raine. He is a member of the CATS. Darius is nearly killed by the draining spell but is saved. After being restored, Darius stops other Coven Heads from trying to take over.
  • Eberwolf (voiced by Kari Wahlgren) is the beast-like Head of the Beast Keeping Coven. They can be ferocious and childlike. Eberwolf works with Raine and Darius against Belos. They are nearly killed by the draining spell but are saved.
  • Terra Snapdragon (voiced by Debra Wilson) is the Head of the Plant Coven. She controls all plants. She is loyal to Emperor Belos. Terra discovers Eda was pretending to be Raine. She helps subdue Eda, Darius, and Eberwolf. She is horrified when the draining spell affects her. Terra is forced to participate in the Collector's role play. After being restored, Darius stops her from trying to take over.
  • Adrian Graye Vernworth (voiced by Noshir Dalal) is the Head of the Illusionist Coven. He has a lion-like tail. He tries to make Hexside students join one coven. He helps Terra expose Eda's illusion. Adrian is nearly killed by the draining spell but is saved. After being restored, Darius stops him from trying to take over.
