Aml Ameen (born 30 July 1985) is an actor and filmmaker from Britain. He is famous for playing Trevor (Trife) in the movie Kidulthood (2006). He also played Malcolm Davies in Harry's Law and Lewis Hardy in the TV show The Bill. You might also know him as Capheus from the first season of the Netflix series Sense8. He was also Alby in the movie The Maze Runner (2014). In 2021, he directed his first movie, a romantic comedy called Boxing Day.

Early Life and School
Aml Ameen was born in London, England. His parents came from Jamaica and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
He learned acting at the Barbara Speake Stage School in London. When he was a child, he acted in plays in the West End. These plays included Oliver! and Jolson. When he was 11, he performed on stage with the famous singer Michael Jackson. This was at the 1996 BRIT Awards.
Aml Ameen's Career
Early Acting Roles (2002–2011)
Aml Ameen's first acting job was in 2002. It was in the ITV police TV show The Bill. He returned to the show full-time in 2006. He played PC Lewis Hardy, which became one of his most well-known roles. Lewis Hardy was a strong-willed character. He changed his life from being a street kid to a police officer. He wanted to make a good difference.
After his first appearance on The Bill, he played Terry in Bella and the Boys. He also appeared in the BBC soap opera EastEnders. He was also in the medical drama Holby City. Aml Ameen starred as Trife in the British movie Kidulthood. He also appeared in Second Chance and Red Tails.
In 2008, he had a main role in the BBC Three drama Dis/Connected. He played Anthony, an 18-year-old student. Anthony faced gang problems in London. He also lost a friend in the story. Ameen was also in a Channel 4 film called Fallout. He played AJ in Silent Witness Series 12. He acted as a youth worker. This character tried to help young people in South London.
In 2008, Ameen started Actors Student Alliance. This was a drama school in London. It helped find and teach new acting talent. The school made a short film and a theatre show.
Ameen also starred in the legal drama Harry's Law. This show started on NBC in 2011.
Hollywood and Netflix (2012–2018)
Aml Ameen's first big Hollywood movie was Red Tails (2012). This film was about African American pilots in World War II. He also played Alby in The Maze Runner (2014). This movie was based on a popular young adult book.
In 2015, Ameen was one of the main characters in the Netflix series Sense8. This show was made by the Wachowskis. He was later replaced by another actor for the second season.
In 2018, Ameen played a young Jamaican character named "D" in the movie Yardie. The movie was based on a 1992 book. Actor Idris Elba directed this film. It was his first time directing a movie.
Directing and Recent Work (2020–present)
Aml Ameen directed his first movie, Boxing Day. It came out on 3 December 2021. He also wrote the movie. He used parts of his own life for the story. He changed some things to fit the film. Many characters in the movie are based on his real family. The movie stars Ameen, Aja Naomi King, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
He also played Tom in the podcast The Left Right Game. In 2022, Ameen spoke in a BBC Radio 4 documentary. It was called My name Is Ricardo P Lloyd. He used his voice to talk about issues in the acting industry.
Awards and Recognition
The Times newspaper named Aml Ameen one of their "Ones To Watch" in 2006. In 2007, he won "Best actor in a TV performance" at the Screen Nation Awards.
