Amparo Poch was also a strong voice for peace. She helped lead a group called the Liga Española de Refractarios a la Guerra. This group was for people who refused to fight in wars. During the `Spanish Civil War`, she helped victims of the war through a group called Orden del Olivo. She passed away in France in 1968.

Medical Work

Amparo Poch became a doctor in 1929. She worked hard to improve health for everyone in Spain. She especially cared about mothers and babies. She wanted to lower the number of babies who died at birth.

In 1931, she wrote a guide for mothers called Cartilla de Consejos a las Madres. It shared tips for a healthy lifestyle during pregnancy. This helped mothers have healthy babies.

In 1934, she opened a clinic in Madrid for women and children. It was in a busy part of the city so many people could easily visit. Because of her work, the number of child deaths in Madrid went down in just one year. Amparo wanted to open even more health centers. This became even more important when the `Spanish Civil War` began.

Writing

Amparo Poch wrote many different things. She wrote poems, essays, novels, and articles for magazines and newspapers. Her writings often had a political message. She wrote about what it was like to be a Spanish woman during the `Spanish Civil War`.

Her novel, Amor (Love), tells the story of a painter. Through this story, Amparo shared her ideas about anarchism and being unique. She kept publishing her articles and poems even during the war. Many people thought social issues should wait during such a difficult time. But Amparo believed in speaking out.

She is most famous for her work with the magazine Los Mujeres Libres. Her powerful poems also helped teach people about the need for equality between men and women.

Civil War Medical Aid

With her medical skills, Amparo helped a lot during the `Spanish Civil War`. She saw that many places where soldiers were treated were not clean. She knew they deserved better care. Even though she was a pacifist, she strongly supported the fight against fascism.

She worked as a doctor for the militia. She helped improve hygiene and medical care for soldiers. She also taught others how to rescue and treat injured soldiers. She taught about things like how to help someone who can't breathe, how to treat injuries, and how to do blood transfusions. Her work helped save many lives.
