Amr Abdel Basset Abdel Azeez Diab is a very famous Egyptian singer, composer, and actor. He was born on October 11, 1961. He is known all over the world for his amazing music.
Amr Diab holds a Guinness World Record! He is the best-selling artist from the Middle East. He has won seven World Music Awards and five Platinum Records.

Early Life and Education
Amr Diab was born in Port Said, Egypt. His family was from the countryside of Menia Elamh. He grew up in a regular Egyptian Muslim family.
He loved music from a young age. In 1986, he earned a bachelor's degree in music. He studied at the Cairo Academy of Arts.
A Star's Music Journey
Amr Diab started his music career in 1983. His first album was called Ya Tareeq. He then released many more albums with Delta Sound. These included Ghanny Men Albak (1984) and Hala Hala (1986).
He also released Khalseen (1987) and Mayyal (1988). Other popular albums were Shawa'na (1989) and Matkhafesh (1990). He continued with Habibi (1991) and Ayyamna (1992).
By 1992, Amr Diab made history. He was the first artist from Egypt and the Middle East to create high-tech music videos.
International Success
In 1996, Amr Diab released Nour El Ain. This album was a huge international hit. It helped him win his first World Music Award. This song made him famous beyond Arabic-speaking countries.
He worked with other artists too. He sang "Alby" with Khaled. He also sang "Bahebak Aktar" with Angela Dimitriou.
Experts say that Amr Diab created a new music style. It is called "Mediterranean music." This style mixes Western and Middle Eastern rhythms.
New Albums and Awards
In 2004, Diab released Leily Nahary with Rotana Records. He followed this with Kammel Kalamak (2005). Then came El Lilady in 2007.
His album Wayah came out in 2009. On October 18, 2009, he won four African Music Awards. He was named best artist, album, vocalist, and song for "Wayah".
In 2011, he released the hit song "Masr Allet" ("Egypt spoke"). His album Banadeek Taala followed in September. In 2012, he hosted the first Google Hangout in the Middle East.
His 2014 album, Shoft El Ayam, was a big success. It became the best-selling album in Egypt on iTunes. It also reached No. 1 on the Billboard World Albums Charts. This made him the first Egyptian artist to do so.
In 2016, he released Ahla w Ahla. His album Maadi el Nas came out in 2017. In 2018, he released Kol Hayaty. He released a mini-album, Ana Gheir, in 2019.
His 30th album, Sahran, came out in February 2020. It had 16 songs. Later that year, he released another album, Ya Ana Ya La.
From 2021 to 2023, Amr Diab released many singles. Many of these songs topped the charts. In December 2023, he released the album Makanak with 12 songs.
In April 2024, Rolling Stone magazine chose his song "Tamally Maak" as a top Arabic Pop Song of the 21st Century.
Musical Style and Influence
Amr Diab is often called the "father of Mediterranean music." His music blends Western and Middle Eastern sounds. His international hit, "Nour El Ain", is a great example of this style.
He is also a talented composer. He has written more than 97 of his own songs. Amr Diab was one of the first singers to make music videos popular in the Middle East and North Africa. He was the first Egyptian singer to appear in music videos.
Film Career
Amr Diab also tried acting in movies. He played himself in his first film, El Afareet, released in 1989. His second film was Ice Cream in Gleam (Ays Krim fi Glym) in 1992. This movie was chosen as one of the best Egyptian musical films by the University of California, Los Angeles.
His third movie, Deahk We La'ab (Laughter and Fun), came out in 1993. He acted alongside famous Egyptian actor Omar Sharif. However, Amr Diab decided to focus more on his singing career after 1993.

Personal Life
Amr Diab has an older daughter from his first marriage to actress Shereen Reda. In 1994, he married Zeina Ashour. They have three children together. He later separated from Zeina Ashour. He was then married to actress Dina El Sherbiny from 2018 to 2020.
Supporting Egypt
During the 2011 uprising in Egypt, some people wondered why Amr Diab was quiet. After the former president stepped down, Diab wrote a song called "Masr A'let" (Egypt Said). This song honored those who died in the uprising.
He also started a charity campaign called "Masry Begad" ("Truly Egyptian"). His online radio station, Diab FM, often talks about how they can help the community. They also work on humanitarian projects across Egypt.

Awards and Achievements
Amr Diab has won many awards for his music. He received the World Music Award for Best Selling Middle Eastern Artist four times. He won in 1996 for Nour El Ain, in 2001 for Akter Wahed, in 2007 for El Lillady, and in 2013 for El Leila.
He also won Best Egyptian Artist, Best Male Arab Artist, and World's Best Arab Male Artist Voted Online at the World Music Awards 2014. Amr Diab is the only Middle Eastern artist to have won seven World Music Awards!
Five of his albums have reached the top 10 on Billboard's World Albums chart. His album Shoft El Ayam reached No. 1 in 2014. This was a first for an Arabic performer. Two of his albums, Shoft El Ayam (2014) and Ahla w Ahla (2016), also appeared on Billboard's Heatseekers charts.
On September 28, 2016, Amr Diab earned a Guinness World Records title. It was for "Most World Music Awards for Best Selling Middle Eastern Artist."
