Amy Gutierrez (born November 14, 1973), also known as Amy G, is a well-known American sports journalist and writer. She is famous for being a field reporter for the San Francisco Giants baseball team.

Early Life and Education

Amy U'Ren Gutierrez was born in San Mateo, California. She grew up in Petaluma, California. As a student, she went to La Tercera Elementary School. She also attended Kenilworth Junior High. Later, she went to Casa Grande High School.

At Casa Grande, Amy was very active in sports. She played softball, basketball, and volleyball. From a young age, she wanted to be a broadcast journalist. In 1995, she graduated from the University of California, Davis. She earned degrees in rhetoric and communications. While at Davis, she played the flute in the school's concert band.

Amy is married to fellow sports journalist Paul Gutierrez. They live in Petaluma. They have a daughter named Grace and a son.

Career in Sports Journalism

After finishing college, Amy Gutierrez moved to Washington, D.C. Later, she moved to Los Angeles. There, she worked as a television producer for Foxsports. One day, a co-worker was sick, and Amy got a chance to appear on air. This was her first time reporting on television.

Amy later returned to the San Francisco Bay Area. She started working as a basketball journalist. She even hosted her own television show. Around 2009, Amy became a sideline reporter for NBC Sports Bay Area. In this role, she covers the San Francisco Giants baseball games.

She also writes for G-Mag. Amy has her own webcast called Amy G's Giants Xclusive. Amy writes all her own stories. She focuses on the "emotional" side of the game. This helps attract all kinds of viewers, from big fans to those who watch sometimes. She often reviews her stories with other reporters before they are shown.

Writing Smarty Marty's Got Game

In 2012, a publishing company asked Amy Gutierrez to write a children's book. The book was about baseball and was for kids aged 6–9. It was published in 2013 and is called Smarty Marty's Got Game. Adam McCauley created the illustrations for the book.

The main character, Marty, is based on Amy's mother and grandmother. Amy named Marty after her grandmother, who passed away just before Amy started writing the book. In the story, Marty is a little girl who teaches her younger brother about baseball. This mirrors the relationship between Amy's own children.
