Amy Manson (born September 9, 1985) is a Scottish actress famous for bringing many exciting characters to life on screen. She is well-known for playing the brave princess Merida in the popular ABC fantasy series Once Upon a Time.
She has also appeared in many other TV shows. Fans may know her as Daisy Hannigan-Spiteri in Being Human, Medea in Atlantis, and Alice Guppy in Torchwood.

Early Life and Training
Amy Manson was born and grew up in Aberdeenshire, a region in Scotland. From a young age, she was interested in acting. She went to a weekend drama school called Stage Coach to practice her skills.
When she was 17, she moved to London to follow her dream of becoming a professional actress. She was accepted into the famous Central School of Speech and Drama. She left her studies early for an amazing opportunity: to star in the movie Pumpkinhead: Blood Feud.

First Steps in Film and TV
Amy's first movie was Pumpkinhead: Blood Feud, a horror film. She also starred in another horror movie called Blood Monkey.
On television, she started with guest roles in popular British shows like Doctors and The Bill. She had a memorable part as Alice Guppy in two episodes of the science-fiction show Torchwood. She also played the character Abby Evans for nine episodes in the medical drama Casualty.
Rise to Fame
In 2009, Amy played Lizzie Siddal in the BBC drama Desperate Romantics. This role helped more people notice her talent. Soon after, she joined the cast of the supernatural series Being Human as the vampire Daisy.
One of her most famous roles came in 2015 when she was cast as the fiery, red-haired archer Merida from the Disney movie Brave. She played this character in the fifth season of the fantasy show Once Upon a Time, bringing the beloved princess to live-action.
Recent Work
Amy has continued to take on challenging roles. From 2021 to 2023, she starred as the complex character Maladie in the HBO science-fiction series The Nevers. In 2024, she appeared as Rhona Moncrieffe in the BBC crime drama Rebus.
