Amy Seimetz is an American actress and filmmaker. She has appeared in many TV shows and movies. Some of her well-known acting roles include the TV series The Killing on AMC and Family Tree on HBO. She has also acted in films like Upstream Color, Alien: Covenant, and Pet Sematary.
Besides acting, Amy Seimetz also directs, writes, and produces films. She directed Sun Don't Shine in 2012 and She Dies Tomorrow in 2020. In 2015, she helped create, write, and direct the Starz TV series The Girlfriend Experience. This show was based on a movie by Steven Soderbergh and was very popular.

Early Life and Education
Amy Seimetz grew up in the Tampa and St. Petersburg areas of Florida. She briefly studied film at Florida State University. Later, she moved to Los Angeles to learn more about filmmaking. While there, she worked different jobs like a nanny, a waitress, and a seamstress.
Career Highlights in Film and TV
Seimetz started her career by making short films and independent movies. She produced and directed Medicine for Melancholy by Barry Jenkins. This film was nominated for awards and shown at big festivals like South By Southwest and the Toronto International Film Festival. She also acted in Alexander The Last.
Her acting in A Horrible Way to Die earned her the Best Actress award at Fantastic Fest. This film also premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. People in the film world noticed her talent. The Hollywood Reporter called her one of the breakout stars at the Sundance Film Festival. They praised her strong performance in the movie The Off Hours.
In 2012, Amy Seimetz directed her first full-length movie, a thriller called Sun Don't Shine. She also wrote, produced, and helped edit this film. It was shown at South By Southwest and received great reviews. Indiewire magazine said her directing debut was brilliant.

In 2017, Seimetz appeared in the science fiction film Alien: Covenant, directed by Ridley Scott. She also had roles in Lean on Pete and My Days of Mercy. In 2018, she starred in Wild Nights with Emily. That same year, Seimetz directed two episodes of the popular TV series Atlanta. She also had a role in Get Shorty.
In 2019, Seimetz starred in Pet Sematary, which was based on a book by Stephen King. She also directed She Dies Tomorrow, which was planned to premiere in 2020 but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2020, Seimetz co-starred in The Comey Rule, a miniseries for Showtime. She also appeared in the thriller film The Secrets We Keep. In 2021, she was announced as a director and producer for the TV series The Idol. However, she later left the project.
