Amy Seimetz was born in Florida. She grew up mostly in the Tampa and St. Petersburg areas. Her family has roots in Ukraine, and she spent some of her childhood there too. She briefly studied film at Florida State University. Later, she moved to Los Angeles. While learning about filmmaking, she worked as a nanny, a waitress, and a seamstress.
Starting Her Career in Film
