Amy Tinkler (born 27 October 1999) is a British artistic gymnast who has now retired. She won a bronze medal in the floor exercise at the 2016 Olympic Games. Amy was also the British all-around champion in 2015.

Junior Gymnastics Career
What Did Amy Do in 2013?
In March 2013, Amy competed at the British Artistic Championships. She won the silver medal in the All-Around competition. She also earned a gold medal on the uneven bars and floor exercise. Amy took home bronze medals for the balance beam and vault.
In July, Amy was part of the Great Britain team at the European Youth Olympic Festival in the Netherlands. Her team won a silver medal.
What Happened in 2014?
In March 2014, Amy competed at her second Junior British Championships. She became the Junior All-Around champion. She also won gold on the floor exercise, silver on the vault, and bronze on the balance beam. Amy said she was "so happy" to win.
In May, Amy helped the British junior team win a historic silver medal at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Bulgaria. She also won two individual medals: a bronze on the vault and a silver on the floor exercise.
Senior Gymnastics Career
Amy's First Senior Competitions in 2015
Amy started her senior career in March 2015 at the English National Championships. She became the new senior all-around champion. She then won the British Championships, also becoming the British all-around champion. Amy also won a gold medal on the floor exercise at this event.
In April, Amy competed at her first major international competition as a senior, the European Championships in France. She qualified for the floor exercise final and finished in 6th place.
Later in 2015, Amy helped her team win a bronze medal at the World Championships in Glasgow. This was a big achievement for the British team.
The 2016 Olympic Games
In March 2016, Amy competed at the AT&T American Cup. In July, she was chosen to be part of the British team for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. At 16 years old, she was the youngest member of Team GB.
Amy won the bronze medal in the floor exercise at the Olympics. She finished behind American gymnasts Simone Biles and Aly Raisman. Amy was only the second British woman to win an Olympic gymnastics medal. After the Olympics, Amy moved to a new gym, South Essex Gymnastics Club.
What Happened in 2017?
Amy competed at the American Cup and the British Championships in 2017. In April, she won a bronze medal at the London World Cup. After these competitions, she had surgery on her knee to remove small pieces of bone.
She returned to gymnastics in September, competing at the Szombathely Challenge Cup. Amy was also part of the team for the World Championships in Montreal. She finished 17th in the all-around final.
Amy's Career in 2018
In 2018, Amy won the all-around title at the English Championships. She also won medals in every event at this competition. In February, Amy was named to the England team for the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
At the British Championships, Amy placed second in the all-around. She also won silver on the vault and gold on the floor. Unfortunately, she injured her ankle while warming up for another competition. This injury meant she could not compete at the Commonwealth Games.
Retirement from Gymnastics
Amy did not compete in 2019 due to her injury. In January 2020, Amy Tinkler announced that she was retiring from gymnastics.
Life After Gymnastics
Amy Tinkler grew up in Bishop Auckland before moving to Essex for her gymnastics training. She went to Durham High School for Girls. She took her GCSE exams over three years to fit in her gymnastics training.
In January 2021, Amy was a contestant on the TV show Dancing on Ice. She joined the show in week 3 and was eliminated in week 5.
After retiring from gymnastics, Amy started cheerleading. She competed at the 2022 World Cheerleading Championships with her team, Coventry Dynamite.
