Ana Barrios Camponovo was born on June 20, 1961, in Montevideo, Uruguay. She is a talented Uruguayan artist who works as an actress, writer, and illustrator.
Her Journey and Work
Ana Barrios Camponovo first studied medicine at the Hospital de Clínicas. She even specialized in traditional Chinese medicine.
Later, she followed her passion for the arts. She performed in theater plays in Uruguay and other countries. From 1983 to 1987, she was an actress, scriptwriter, and helped write plays for the Teatro de la Barraca group. They performed in Uruguay, Argentina, and Brazil.
Her book called Juan y la bicicleta encantada (Juan and the Enchanted Bicycle) won a special prize in 1995. This was the Bartolomé Hidalgo Award. This popular book was published in many countries, including Mexico, the United States, Canada, and the Philippines.
Another one of her books, Quepo Quito, was published by Alfaguara. It won 2nd Prize at the Ministry of Education and Culture Awards in 1997.
Today, Ana lives in Spain. She hosts an online TV show called Universo Infancia (Childhood Universe). This show is made for children.
