Ana Bešlić was a famous Serbian sculptor. She was born on March 16, 1912, near a town called Bajmok. She passed away on February 27, 2008, in Belgrade.
About Ana Bešlić
Ana Bešlić was born in a place called Šarapusta, close to the town of Bajmok. This area is between Sombor and Subotica. At that time, it was part of the Kingdom of Hungary. Her family was from the Bunjevci group of people.
Ana Bešlić became one of the most important modern sculptors in Yugoslavia and Serbia. She was known for her unique and new ideas in art, starting in the 1950s. She helped change the style of sculpture in Yugoslavia. Many of her artworks were large monuments.
She went to schools in Zagreb, Graz, and Vienna. She then studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade. She finished her studies there in 1949.
Some of her sculptures were given to the city of Subotica. This included a monument dedicated to Blaško Rajić.
Ana Bešlić spent her last years in Belgrade, where she died in 2008.
