Ana Casas Broda is a talented photographer from Mexico. She was born in Spain in 1965. Ana is well-known for her photo series called Kinderwunsch, which means "child wish" in German. This project explored what it's like to be a mother. It showed both the happy and sometimes challenging parts of raising children. She worked on this special project for seven years. It covered everything from when her sons were babies to playing with them as they grew up.

Ana Casas Broda was born in Granada, Spain, in 1965. Her father was Spanish, and her mother was from Austria. Because of her mother, German was Ana's first language. Ana's grandmother was also a photographer. Her grandmother's pictures inspired Ana a lot when she was young.

Ana moved between Spain and Austria many times during her childhood. Her parents had problems in their marriage. This later made Ana want to build a strong and happy family of her own. In 1974, Ana and her mother moved to Mexico City.

Her Education and Early Career

Ana studied photography, painting, and history. She attended several schools in Mexico. These included Casa de las Imágenes, Escuela Activa de Fotografía, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and the National School of Anthropology and History. Ana started focusing on photography in 1983.

From 1989 to 1993, Ana lived in Vienna, Austria, and Madrid, Spain. She then returned to Mexico City. She also spent time in Vienna until 2002 to care for her grandmother. Today, Ana Casas Broda lives in Mexico City. She has two sons.

Her Famous Photography Project

Over seven years, Ana created her well-known photo series, Kinderwunsch. This project was finished in 2013. It is a deep look into the experience of motherhood.

In 2013, Ana shared some of the artists who inspired her work. These included Robert Frank, Hannah Wilke, and Elinor Carucci.
