Anabelle Langlois is a Canadian figure skater who competed in pairs skating. She was born on July 21, 1981. Anabelle won the Canadian Figure Skating Championships in 2008 with her partner, Cody Hay. She also earned a silver medal at the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships in 2002 with her earlier partner, Patrice Archetto.

Anabelle Langlois' Skating Career

Anabelle Langlois started her journey in pairs skating with Patrice Archetto in 1998. Early in their partnership, Anabelle had a serious fall during a throw jump at the 1998 Canadian Championships. She fractured her skull, which is a bone in the head. After this, she wore a hockey helmet for six months to protect herself while skating.

Skating with Patrice Archetto

Anabelle and Patrice became a very successful team. They won a silver medal at the 2002 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships. This is a big competition for skaters from North America, Asia, Africa, and Australia. They also earned five medals in the Grand Prix series, which are international competitions. On top of that, they won five medals at the Canadian national events. Their coach was Jan Ullmark, and they trained in Edmonton. Their partnership ended in 2005 when Patrice decided to stop competing.

Skating with Cody Hay

In 2005, Anabelle teamed up with Cody Hay. They quickly started to make a name for themselves. In 2006, they finished 4th at 2006 Skate America. They had to miss another competition, the 2006 Cup of Russia, because the airline lost Anabelle's skates!

The pair won a bronze medal at the 2007 Canadian Figure Skating Championships. This earned them a spot on the team for the World Championships. They placed 10th at the 2007 World Figure Skating Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

The 2007–08 season was a big one for Langlois and Hay. They competed at Skate Canada and NHK Trophy. Then, they won their first national title at the 2008 Canadian Figure Skating Championships in Vancouver, British Columbia. They continued to the 2008 World Figure Skating Championships in Sweden, where they finished 8th.

Overcoming Injuries

Anabelle faced another challenge in July 2008 when she broke her lower right leg bone (fibula) during practice. She had surgery to fix it, and doctors placed five screws and a metal plate in her ankle. Because of this injury, they had to pull out of two big Grand Prix events.

Anabelle started training again in mid-September. However, she had trouble walking in January 2009. Doctors found she had tissue damage, so the pair had to withdraw from the 2009 Canadian Figure Skating Championships. Around February 2009, she had another surgery to remove the screws and metal plate. This meant they also missed the 2009 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships and 2009 World Figure Skating Championships.

Return to Competition and Retirement

Anabelle and Cody returned to international competition at the 2009 Nebelhorn Trophy in Oberstdorf, Germany. In November 2009, they were back on the Grand Prix circuit, placing 4th at Skate Canada in Kitchener, Ontario.

At the 2010 Canadian Figure Skating Championships in London, Ontario, Langlois and Hay won the silver medal. This earned them a spot on the Canadian Olympic team. They competed at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia, where they finished 9th.

On May 21, 2010, Anabelle announced that she was retiring from competitive skating. After retiring, she appeared on the TV show Battle of the Blades in 2010 and 2011.
