Anabelle Langlois (born July 21, 1981) is a Canadian pair skater. She is famous for her amazing performances on the ice. Anabelle became the Canadian Figure Skating Champion in 2008 with her partner, Cody Hay. She also won a silver medal at the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships in 2002 with her earlier partner, Patrice Archetto.

Anabelle's Skating Journey

Early Career with Patrice Archetto

Anabelle started skating with Patrice Archetto in 1998. Early in their partnership, Anabelle had a serious fall during a practice. She fractured her skull, which is a bone in her head. Because of this, she wore a special hockey helmet for six months to protect herself.

Despite this challenge, Anabelle and Patrice achieved great success. They won a silver medal at the 2002 Four Continents Championships. They also earned five medals in the Grand Prix series and five medals at the Canadian national championships. Their coach was Jan Ullmark. Their partnership ended in 2005 when Patrice decided to stop competing.

Partnering with Cody Hay

In 2005, Anabelle teamed up with Cody Hay. They quickly started to make a name for themselves. At the 2006 Skate America competition, they finished in fourth place. They had to miss another competition, the 2006 Cup of Russia, because the airline lost Anabelle's skates!

In 2007, Anabelle and Cody won a bronze medal at the Canadian Championships. This earned them a spot on their first World Championships team. They placed 10th at the 2007 World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

The 2007–08 season was a big one for the pair. They competed at Skate Canada and NHK Trophy. Then, they won their first national title at the 2008 Canadian Championships in Vancouver. They continued to perform well, placing 8th at the 2008 World Championships in Sweden.

Overcoming Injuries

Anabelle faced another tough injury in 2008. She broke a bone in her lower right leg during practice. She needed surgery and had five screws and a metal plate put into her ankle. This injury meant they had to withdraw from two major events.

Anabelle worked hard to recover. She returned to training in mid-September. However, she had more problems with her ankle in January 2009. Doctors found tissue damage, and she had to have another surgery to remove the screws and plate. Because of these injuries, Anabelle and Cody had to miss all competitions for the 2008-2009 season.

Return to Competition and Olympics

Anabelle and Cody made their comeback at the 2009 Nebelhorn Trophy in Germany. They then returned to the Grand Prix circuit, placing 4th at Skate Canada in November 2009.

At the 2010 Canadian Championships, Anabelle and Cody won the silver medal. This amazing performance earned them a spot on the Canadian Olympic team! They competed at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, where they finished in 9th place.

Anabelle announced her retirement from competitive skating in May 2010. After retiring, she appeared on the TV show Battle of the Blades in 2010 and 2011.

Anabelle's Life Off the Ice

Anabelle Langlois and Cody Hay became engaged in 2010. They got married on May 21, 2012. They have two children: their daughter, Mia Olivia Hay, was born in March 2013, and their son, Zac, was born in 2016. Anabelle and her family now live in Waterloo, Ontario. She works as the Technical Director at the Kitchener-Waterloo Skating Club, helping new skaters learn and grow.
