Anatoly Vishnevsky (born April 1, 1935 – died January 15, 2021) was a smart Russian expert. He studied how populations change, which is called demography. He was also an economist, meaning he studied how money and resources are used. Besides his academic work, he wrote novels too.

In 1983, Anatoly Vishnevsky earned a special degree called a doctorate in economics. This achievement helped him become a member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. He also led the Institute of Demography, which is a research center at the Higher School of Economics.
Vishnevsky was the main editor for a newsletter called "Population and Society." He also edited an online magazine named "Demoscope Weekly." He was a writer and studied the history of people who left Russia, known as the White émigré. He used to be a teacher in Ukraine, which was part of the Soviet Union at that time.
He finished his studies at the National University of Kharkiv in 1958. There, he earned a degree in statistics. In 1967, he wrote a special paper about how cities grow. Later, in 1971, he moved to Moscow and started working at the USSR Demographic Research Institute.
In 1990, Vishnevsky worked in France as a visiting professor. He taught at universities like Lumière University Lyon 2, the University of Paris 8 Vincennes-Saint-Denis, and Sciences Po. He was also an active member of many important groups. One of these was the Management of Social Transformations (MOST) program at UNESCO. On April 27, 2010, the Higher School of Economics celebrated his 75th birthday.
Anatoly Vishnevsky passed away in Moscow on January 15, 2021. He was 85 years old.
