Anders Olav Aalborg (born August 24, 1914 – died February 13, 2000) was an important person in Alberta, Canada. He was a teacher and then a politician. He worked in the government of Alberta for many years, from 1948 to 1971. He was part of the Social Credit party. He also served as a minister in the cabinets of two Premiers, Ernest Manning and Harry Strom.

Anders Aalborg's Early Life and Teaching Career
Anders Olav Aalborg was born on August 24, 1914, in Oxville, Alberta. He grew up on his family's farm. He went to school in his local area.
Later, he studied in Edmonton to become a teacher. From 1933 to 1952, he taught and was a principal at different schools. These schools were in the County of Vermilion River. In 1939, he married Catherine May Burn. They had two children together. He was also a leader for teachers, serving as vice-president of the Alberta Teachers' Association from 1945 to 1949.
Becoming a Politician
Anders Aalborg first tried to become a politician in 1945. He ran in a federal election for the Social Credit party. He did not win that election.
In 1948, he ran for a seat in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. This is Alberta's provincial government. He won the election in the area called Alexandra. He was re-elected easily in 1952.
Important Roles in Government
After the 1952 election, Premier Ernest Manning chose Anders Aalborg for a big job. He became the Minister of Education on September 9, 1952. This meant he was in charge of schools and learning in Alberta.
He won his seat again in the 1955 and 1959 elections. He kept getting more votes each time. In the 1963 election, he won with the most votes he had ever received.
On July 30, 1964, Premier Manning gave him a new, very important job. Anders Aalborg became the Provincial Treasurer. This role is like being the finance minister, managing Alberta's money. He won his sixth election in 1967.
Premier Manning gave him another job on July 13, 1967. He became the Minister of Railways and Telephones. This meant he was in charge of trains and phone services. He held this job for about a year.
In 1968, Premier Manning retired. Harry Strom became the new Premier. Anders Aalborg stopped being the Minister of Railways and Telephones. He had thought about becoming Premier himself, but he decided not to because of his health.
Anders Aalborg retired from politics in 1971.
Later Life
Anders Aalborg passed away on February 13, 2000. He died in Surrey, British Columbia.
