Brandon Paak Anderson (born February 8, 1986), known as Anderson .Paak (pronounced "PACK" or "PAHK"), is an American singer, rapper, and music producer. He is also a talented drummer.
He released his first mixtape, O.B.E. Vol. 1, in 2012. His first album, Venice, came out in 2014. His second album, Malibu (2016), was nominated for a Grammy Award.
Anderson .Paak has won several Grammy Awards. In 2019, he won for his song "Bubblin". In 2020, he won two more Grammys for his album Ventura and the song "Come Home".
Besides his solo work, Anderson .Paak is part of two musical duos. He formed NxWorries in 2015 with producer Knxwledge. In 2021, he teamed up with Bruno Mars to create Silk Sonic. Their song "Leave the Door Open" became a number one hit. It also won four Grammy Awards in 2022, including Song of the Year.

Early Life and Music Beginnings
Brandon Paak Anderson was born on February 8, 1986, in Oxnard, California. His mother was born in South Korea. She was adopted by an American family.
Anderson .Paak started making music in his bedroom as a teenager. He went to Foothill Technology High School. His first performances were as a drummer at his family's church.
Early in his career, he used the stage name Breezy Lovejoy. In 2011, he started to become known in the Los Angeles music scene. He released his first album, O.B.E. Vol. 1, in 2012.
After this, he changed his stage name to Anderson .Paak. He says the "dot" in his name means "detail." It reminds him to pay attention to every small part of his music.
In 2013, Paak released Cover Art, an EP of cover songs. He took classic folk and rock songs and remade them with soul, funk, and hip-hop sounds.
Music Career Highlights
2014–2017: Venice and Malibu Albums
On October 28, 2014, Anderson .Paak released his first official album, Venice. He also worked with famous artists like Dr. Dre on his 2015 album Compton.
His second album, Malibu, came out on January 15, 2016. It was praised by music critics. Soon after, he announced he had signed with Dr. Dre's record label, Aftermath Entertainment.
In 2016, XXL magazine named him one of the top new hip-hop artists. He also performed a very popular Tiny Desk Concert for NPR Music with his band, the Free Nationals.
2018–2019: Oxnard and Ventura Albums
In 2018, Anderson .Paak's song "Til It's Over" was used in an Apple commercial. His song "Bubblin" was also featured in the Madden NFL 19 video game.
His third album, Oxnard, was released on November 16, 2018. Dr. Dre helped produce this album. It was a tribute to Paak's hometown in California. The album has a strong funk sound and features artists like Kendrick Lamar and Snoop Dogg.
Paak then released his fourth album, Ventura, on April 12, 2019. This album also featured famous artists like André 3000. Ventura continued the theme of his previous albums, moving up the California coast. It focused more on his personal life and returned to his smooth R&B and funk-rap style.
2020–2023: Silk Sonic and New Projects
In January 2020, Anderson .Paak appeared on the game show The Price Is Right. He also worked with Eminem on his album Music to Be Murdered By.
He released the song "Lockdown" in June 2020, celebrating Juneteenth. The music video included many other musicians. In August 2020, his song "Cut Em In" was on the soundtrack for the Madden NFL 21 game.
On February 26, 2021, Paak and Bruno Mars announced their new band, Silk Sonic. Their first album, An Evening with Silk Sonic, came out in November 2021. Their song "Leave the Door Open" became a huge hit, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
In 2021, Paak also started a new record label called Apeshit Inc. He worked with Dr. Dre on music for the video game Grand Theft Auto Online. In February 2022, he performed at the Super Bowl LVI halftime show with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Eminem.
2024–Present: Why Lawd?
In June 2024, Anderson .Paak and Knxwledge, as their duo NxWorries, released their second album called Why Lawd?. This album was praised for mixing neo-soul, jazz, and hip-hop.
Personal Life
Anderson .Paak met his wife, Jaylyn Chang, when she was a music student in South Korea. They have two sons together. In January 2024, Paak filed for divorce.
He has a tattoo on his chest of famous musicians like Stevie Wonder and Prince. He also has a tattoo on his arm that says, "When I'm gone please don't release any posthumous albums or songs with my name attached. Those were just demos and never intended to be heard by the public."
Charity Work
In 2016, Anderson .Paak started The Brandon Anderson Foundation. This group helps communities by providing access to arts, education, and unique experiences.
In December 2017, he started .Paak House, an annual benefit concert. This concert raises money for his foundation. Many famous artists have performed at .Paak House, including The Game and Jhené Aiko.
By 2021, the foundation had raised over half a million dollars. It has helped more than 3,000 families in the Greater Los Angeles area with basic needs. Anderson .Paak is also scheduled to perform at the FireAid benefit concert in 2025.
