Andre Owens: A Basketball Journey
Andre Owens is a talented basketball player who played for many teams. He was a shooting guard, which means he was good at scoring points from far away. He played in the NBA and also for teams around the world.
Early Basketball Days
Andre Owens grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. He went to Perry Meridian High School. In his final year, he was chosen as an Indiana All-Star. This means he was one of the best high school players in the state.
After high school, Andre played college basketball. He first went to Indiana University. Later, he moved to the University of Houston to continue his college career.
Playing Pro Basketball
Andre Owens started his professional career in 2005. Even though he wasn't picked in the NBA draft, he still got a chance to play. He signed with the Utah Jazz as a free agent. A free agent is a player who can sign with any team they want.
NBA Journey
Andre played for the Utah Jazz in the 2005-06 NBA season. After that, he was traded to the Golden State Warriors. However, he didn't play any games for them.
In 2007, Andre signed a one-year deal with the Indiana Pacers. This was a special moment for him, as he was playing for a team in his home state.
Playing Overseas
In 2008, Andre decided to play basketball in Europe. He signed with a team called Crvena zvezda in Serbia. This was the start of his international career.
He then played for several other teams in different countries. He played in Turkey for Türk Telekom B.K., in Russia for Lokomotiv Kuban, and in Spain for Bàsquet Manresa and CB Granada. He also played in Ukraine for BC Donetsk and in Bulgaria for Lukoil Academic.
Later, he played in Cyprus for Keravnos B.C. and in Angola for C.R.D. Libolo. In 2015, he played for Zepter Vienna in Austria. Playing in so many different countries shows how much he loved basketball!
Life After Playing
In 2017, Andre played in the BIG3 League. This is a special league for former NBA players. After his playing career, Andre became a coach. He was named the General Manager (GM) of the Indy Express team. Now, he helps guide new players.
