Andrea Sartoretti is a famous Italian former volleyball player. He was born on June 19, 1971, in Perugia, Italy. He was known for his powerful serves, which earned him the nickname Sartorace. He played as an opposite hitter, a position where players usually hit the ball from the back row.

Andrea Sartoretti's Volleyball Journey

Andrea Sartoretti started his professional volleyball career in Italy in 1991. He quickly became known as a talented player. He even won an award for being the best player under 23 years old. Standing at 1.94 meters (about 6 feet 4 inches) tall, he was a strong presence on the court.

Club Successes

Sartoretti played for several top clubs in Italy. In 1997, he helped Pallavolo Modena win the Italian Serie A1 national title. Before that, while playing for Messaggero Ravenna from 1991 to 1996, he won three CEV Champions League titles. He also won two European Supercups with Ravenna.

Playing for Italy

Andrea Sartoretti first joined the Italian national team in 1993. He played a huge role in their success. He helped Italy win four World League titles. He was even named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) twice in these competitions.

He also won two European Championship titles in 2001 and 2003. In 1998, he was part of the team that won a World Championship.

Olympic Medals

Sartoretti represented Italy in three Olympic Games. He won two silver medals, one at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and another at the 2004 Athens Olympics. He also earned a bronze medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He made 330 appearances for the national team of Italy.

Andrea Sartoretti finished his playing career in 2009. Today, he is part of the general management team for Modena Volley.
