Since 1979, Andrejs Grants has been a teacher. He teaches at the House of Technical Innovation in Riga. He is a very important photography teacher in Latvia. Many well-known Latvian photographers and artists learned from him. Some of his students include Ritums Ivanovs, Arnis Balčus, and Gints Bērziņš.

Group "A" and Real-Life Photos

While at the "Ogre" photo studio, Andrejs Grants helped start a group called "A". Other photographers in this group were Inta Ruka, Valts Kleins, and Gvido Kajons. They were inspired by famous documentary photographers. These included Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Frank.

Group "A" used a special style called "reportage." This means they took photos that looked like news reports. They wanted to show real life in Soviet Latvia. Their pictures often showed the challenges and changes happening at that time.
