Andreu Buenafuente Moreno, born on January 24, 1965, is a well-known Spanish TV host and comedian. He is famous for his late-night talk shows and for starting his own production company, El Terrat. Andreu has worked on many popular TV channels like TV3, Antena 3, laSexta, and #0. He has also been a radio host and has written several books based on his comedy monologues.

In 2019, he co-hosted the 33rd Goya Awards, a big film awards ceremony in Spain, with his wife, Silvia Abril.

Andreu's Early Life and Career

Andreu was born in Reus, a city in Catalonia, Spain. His father, Juan Buenafuente, was from the area and was a football player and amateur actor. His mother, Teresa Moreno, was from Lorca, but her family was originally from Almería. She worked in the textile industry.

Starting in Radio

Andreu began his career in radio when he was just 17 years old, in 1982. He worked in the sports section of Radio Popular Reus. Seven years later, he started his own show called El terrat on SER Catalunya. This show was very successful and won an Onda Award in 1997 for being the best local radio program.

To hire his own team for the show, Andreu created El Terrat. This company now produces content for TV, radio, and digital platforms. In 2002, he hosted a summer radio show called La isla de los mosquitos, which mixed funny phrases with music. Years later, in 2013, he returned to radio with his friend Berto Romero for the show Nadie sabe nada. This show also won an Onda Award in 2019.

Moving to Television

Andreu first appeared on television in 1992. He worked on shows like Persones humanes and Al ataque. He became very well-known on Catalan TV with a series of shows called Sense Títol (meaning "Without Title") from 1995 to 1998. These shows were produced by his company, El Terrat.

His most popular shows on Catalan TV were the late-night talk shows La cosa nostra (1999-2000) and Una altra cosa (2002-2004). In 2004, he moved to national TV with Antena 3 to create similar shows. His company also produced other successful shows for TV3, such as Malalts de tele and Plats bruts.

Hosting Buenafuente

On January 11, 2005, Andreu launched his famous late-night talk show called Buenafuente on Antena 3. The show quickly became very popular and even won an Onda Award for best entertainment program in 2006. A funny character named el Neng de Castefa, played by Edu Soto, became famous on the show.

After two years, the show moved to La Sexta in September 2007, keeping the same name and format. On this version of the show, another character, Rodolfo Chikilicuatre, became very popular. He even represented Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest with his song Baila el Chiki Chiki. Andreu continued to work with his team of writers and actors, including Jordi Évole and Berto Romero.

In 2010 and 2011, Andreu hosted the Goya Awards live. The show Buenafuente aired its last episode on La Sexta on June 30, 2011, after 964 episodes.

New TV Projects

In November 2011, Andreu returned to TV3 for a special two-episode show called Com va la vida?. He hosted it with scientist Eduard Punset, and they talked about life and science with humor.

In April 2012, he started a new show called Buenas noches y Buenafuente on Antena 3. However, it was canceled after only five episodes. In November 2013, he returned to late-night TV on La Sexta with a show called En el aire.

In September 2015, Andreu joined Movistar+, a new TV platform. On January 11, 2016, his new late-night talk show, Late motiv, premiered. This show aimed to bring back the classic late-night format with a live band and more focus on Andreu as the main host. Regular guests like Berto Romero and Silvia Abril also appeared.

After Late motiv ended, Andreu returned to TV3 to host special comedy shows at the end of each year. These shows aired on December 26th. In 2022, it was Curraràs, in 2023 Que us bombin a tots, and in 2024 it was El 24. He also started a weekly talk show called Vosaltres mateixos in late 2023, where he chats with everyday people.

In January 2025, it was announced that Andreu would create a new comedy show for RTVE called Futuro Imperfecto. This show features a long monologue and includes short segments with guests or audience members.

Andreu's Personal Life

Andreu's sister, Maite Buenafuente, is an actress and helped start El Terrat, where she worked as a casting director. In 2010, Andreu announced his relationship with actress and comedian Silvia Abril. They had a daughter named Joana in 2012.

Andreu has taken legal action against magazines that published private photos of him without permission. He won lawsuits against Diez Minutos and Sorpresa magazines for invading his privacy. He donated the money he received from these lawsuits to different charities.
