Joshua Andrew Koenig (born August 17, 1968 – died February 16, 2010) was an American actor, film director, editor, and writer. He was also known for being a human rights activist. Many people remember him for his role as Richard "Boner" Stabone in the TV show Growing Pains.

Early Life and Inspiration

Andrew Koenig was born on August 17, 1968. His father was Walter Koenig, an actor famous for his role in Star Trek. His mother was Judy Levitt.

When Andrew was young, a writer named Harlan Ellison was inspired by him. Ellison wrote a story called "Jeffty Is Five". This story later won important awards like the Nebula Award and the Hugo Award.

Andrew Koenig's Career

Andrew Koenig had a busy career in television and film.

Acting on TV and in Movies

From 1985 to 1989, Andrew played Richard "Boner" Stabone. This was a recurring role in the ABC sitcom Growing Pains. His character was the best friend of Mike Seaver, played by Kirk Cameron.

He also appeared in other TV shows. These included My Sister Sam and My Two Dads. He was also in the drama series 21 Jump Street.

In the early 1990s, Andrew used his voice for animated shows. He voiced characters like Ambush and Night Creeper Leader in G.I. Joe. He also had a small role as Tumak in an episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine in 1993.

Andrew played The Joker in a fan-made film called Batman: Dead End in 2003.

Stage Performances and Behind the Scenes

Andrew also performed on stage. In 1982, he played the Page Boy in an opera called Falstaff. This was with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra.

Andrew was a strong supporter of human rights. In 2007, he traveled to Burma and visited refugee camps in Thailand. He went with his father to support the U.S. Campaign for Burma.

Protesting for Change

In 2008, Andrew protested during the Tournament of Roses in Pasadena, California. He wanted to raise awareness about human rights issues in Burma. He carried a sign that said "China: Free Burma" in English and Chinese. He was briefly arrested for this act of civil disobedience.

Andrew explained why he protested. He said that China was supporting the military government in Burma. He believed China should help change things for the better. He also spoke about the importance of free speech rights for everyone.

Andrew Koenig's Passing

Andrew Koenig was last seen in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, on February 14, 2010. He missed a flight a few days later. On February 25, 2010, his friends and family found him in Vancouver's Stanley Park.
