Andrew Patrick O'Keefe is an Australian television presenter and lawyer. He was well-known for hosting popular game shows like Deal or No Deal and The Chase Australia. He also co-hosted the morning show Weekend Sunrise for many years.

Andrew O'Keefe's Career Journey

Early Legal Work

Before becoming a TV star, Andrew O'Keefe worked as a lawyer. He specialized in intellectual property law. This means he helped protect ideas and creations, like inventions or songs. He worked at a law firm called Allens Arthur Robinson.

Starting in Television

Andrew O'Keefe began his television career in 2003. His first show was Big Bite on Channel Seven. Later that same year, he started hosting the game show Deal or No Deal. He hosted this popular show for ten years.

In 2005, Andrew helped host a special TV event called Reach Out. This event raised money for people affected by the tsunami in Asia. It was shown on three different TV channels at once. That same year, he also hosted a show called Dragons Den. He also co-hosted the 47th TV Week Logie Awards, which celebrate Australian television.

Hosting Morning Shows

From 2005 to 2017, Andrew O'Keefe was a co-host of Weekend Sunrise. This show aired on Saturday and Sunday mornings. He worked with Samantha Armytage from 2007 to 2013. After Samantha moved to the main Sunrise program, Monique Wright became his co-host. Andrew also sometimes filled in for David Koch on the weekday Sunrise show.

Game Show Success

From 2007 to 2009, Andrew hosted another quiz show called The Rich List. In 2015, he started presenting Seven's new game show, The Chase Australia. This show became very popular.

In December 2017, Andrew announced he was leaving Weekend Sunrise after 12 years. His contract with the Seven Network ended in 2020. After that, Larry Emdur took over as host of The Chase Australia.

Stage Performances

In 2013, Andrew O'Keefe played the role of King Herod in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar. This was a big arena show that toured Australia. However, he had to leave the show early due to a neck injury that needed surgery.

Helping the Community

Andrew O'Keefe has also done important work for the community. He was a chairman for White Ribbon Australia. This group worked to prevent violence against women. He was one of the first people to join the campaign in Australia in 2004.

Because of his work, Andrew was chosen to be part of the National Council for the Prevention of Violence Against Women in 2008. This council wrote a report called Time for Action. This report was a plan for Australia to reduce violence against women and children.

Special Recognition

In January 2017, Andrew O'Keefe was given a special award. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM). This award recognized his contributions to television and his charity work.

Andrew O'Keefe's Family Life

Andrew O'Keefe is one of five children in his family. His father, Barry O'Keefe, was a judge. Andrew is also the nephew of famous Australian rock and roll singer Johnny O'Keefe.

Andrew went to Saint Ignatius' College, Riverview for school. He then studied arts and law at the University of Sydney. He was married and has three children. The couple separated in 2017 and later divorced in 2019. In 2018 and 2019, Andrew performed some of his uncle's songs in a concert show.
