Samantha Armytage (born September 4, 1976) is a well-known Australian journalist and television host.
She is famous for co-hosting the popular breakfast TV show Sunrise on the Seven Network from 2013 to 2021. She hosted the show with David Koch. Before that, she was a co-host on Weekend Sunrise and the presenter for Seven's 4.30 News.

Early Life and Education
Samantha Armytage was born to her parents, Mac and Elizabeth. She has a younger brother named Charlie. She grew up on a large sheep farm called Bolaro Station, near the town of Adaminaby in New South Wales.
For high school, she went to a boarding school in Sydney called Kincoppal-Rose Bay. After graduating, she studied at Charles Sturt University.
One of Armytage's ancestors was George Armytage, an early British settler in Australia. Historical records show he was involved in a violent conflict with local Aboriginal people.
Career in Television
Armytage started her career in the media in 1999. Her first job was as a news reporter and presenter for WIN Television in Canberra. In 2002, she moved to Sky News Australia, where she worked as the chief political reporter.
Working at the Seven Network
In 2003, Armytage joined the Seven Network. Network bosses noticed her great work when she was reporting on the 2003 Canberra Bushfires.
She soon began presenting major news programs. In 2006, she became the main presenter for Seven 4.30 News. She was also a regular fill-in host for other news shows.
In 2011, Armytage showed off her dancing skills as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars. At the same time, she continued to work as a reporter and fill-in presenter for shows like Sunrise and The Morning Show.
In 2021, she began appearing as a special guest on the reality show The Farmer Wants a Wife. By 2023, she became the main host of the show.
Hosting Sunrise

In 2007, Armytage became the co-host of Weekend Sunrise. Then, in 2013, she was chosen to replace Melissa Doyle as the co-host of the main weekday show, Sunrise. This was a huge step in her career.
On March 8, 2021, Armytage announced she was leaving Sunrise. She said she wanted to spend more time with her family. Her last show was on March 11, 2021.
Moving to the Nine Network
In October 2024, it was confirmed that Armytage had joined the Nine Network. She was announced as the host of a new show, the Australian version of The Golden Bachelor.
A couple of months later, in December 2024, she also filled in as a co-host on the morning show Today.
Other Work
Besides television, Armytage has worked in other areas of media. In 2017, she started writing a column for the lifestyle magazine Stellar.
In 2021, she also launched her own podcast called Something to Talk About with Samantha Armytage.
Controversial Moments
During her time on television, some of Armytage's comments have caused public debate.
In 2015, she made a comment to a guest on Sunrise that some people found offensive and racist. After more than 2,000 people signed a petition asking her to apologize, she did.
In 2018, another segment on Sunrise that she hosted caused a lot of controversy. The discussion was about the adoption of Aboriginal children. The segment included incorrect information and made broad, negative statements about Indigenous people. This led to protests outside the TV studio. An official investigation later found that the show had broken the rules by broadcasting inaccurate information.
Personal Life
In June 2020, Armytage announced she was engaged to her partner, Richard Lavender. They were married in a small, private ceremony on December 31, 2020. Through her marriage, she became a stepmother to Lavender's two daughters.
In December 2024, it was announced that Armytage and Lavender had separated.
