Andrew Paul Woolfolk II (born October 11, 1950 – died April 24, 2022) was an American saxophonist. He was best known for being a longtime member of the famous band Earth, Wind & Fire. Andrew played with them from 1973 to 1985, and again from 1987 to 1993. He also worked with other well-known musicians like Deniece Williams and Phil Collins.

Andrew Woolfolk's Life and Music

Andrew Woolfolk grew up in Denver, Colorado. He went to East High School there. In 1972, he joined the popular band Earth, Wind & Fire. He played the saxophone for them and became a very important part of their sound.

His amazing work with Earth, Wind & Fire led to special honors. In 2000, Andrew was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the band. This is a huge honor for musicians! Later, in 2017, he was also inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame.

Andrew Woolfolk passed away on April 24, 2022, after being sick for a while.

Besides his time with Earth, Wind & Fire, Andrew Woolfolk also shared his musical talent with many other artists. He played saxophone on albums for musicians like Deniece Williams and Stanley Turrentine.

He also performed on albums for Level 42 and Philip Bailey. Philip Bailey was a bandmate from Earth, Wind & Fire. Andrew played on Philip's albums, including one that won a Grammy. Andrew also played on Phil Collins' album Dance Into the Light in 1996.
