Serving His Local Community
Mr. Chassaigne started helping his local community early on. He became a deputy mayor in 1977. This means he was like an assistant to the mayor. Later, in 1983, he became the mayor of Saint-Amant-Roche-Savine. He served as mayor until 2010. His son, François Chassaigne, took over the role after him.
He also served as a general councillor for the Puy-de-Dôme area. This was from 1979 to 2004. He also worked as a regional councillor for Auvergne. He held this position from 1998 to 2000, and again from 2010 to 2015. These roles involved making decisions for larger parts of the region.
