The Andy Griffith Museum is in Mount Airy, North Carolina. It's about a half-mile from where Andy Griffith grew up! The museum building is 2,500 square feet, which is a pretty good size. It's right next to the Andy Griffith Playhouse.
The museum was a dream of Emmett Forrest. He was Andy Griffith's friend since they were kids. Emmett worked with the Surry Arts Council for over 25 years to make the museum happen. It finally opened on September 26, 2009. In 2017, the museum got a big update to make it even better for visitors.
