Jeremy Andrew Johns (born May 20, 1950 – died April 7, 2013) was a talented British sound engineer and record producer. He helped create the sound for many famous rock albums. Think of him as someone who made sure the music sounded amazing when it was recorded.
Andy Johns worked with legendary bands like the Rolling Stones on their album Exile on Main St. and Led Zeppelin on several of their albums in the 1970s. He also worked on Marquee Moon by Television. His unique touch can be heard on the Free album Highway, which he engineered and produced.

Andy Johns' Early Life and Career
Andy Johns was the younger brother of another famous engineer, Glyn Johns. Andy went to The King's School, Gloucester in England during the 1960s.
He started his career very young, working as a tape operator at Olympic Studios in London. This was like an apprentice role where he learned from experienced professionals. He worked with artists such as Rod Stewart, Jethro Tull, and Humble Pie.
Before he even turned 19, Andy was already a second engineer for Eddie Kramer, helping record music for Jimi Hendrix and many other artists. This shows how quickly he learned and how skilled he became!
A Long and Successful Career
Andy Johns' career lasted over 40 years. During this time, he engineered or produced records for a huge range of artists. These included rock giants like Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones, all the way to Van Halen.
