Angelica Anatolyevna Yalinskaya (Russian: Анжелика Анатольевна Ялиньская, romanized: Anzhelika Anatol'yevna Yalin'skaya; Belarusian: Анжаліка Анатольеўна Ялінская, romanized: Anzhalika Anatoĺjeŭna Jalinskaja; born May 17, 1970), known as Angelica Agurbash (Russian: Анжелика Агурбаш; Belarusian: Анжаліка Агурбаш), is a talented singer and former model from Belarus. She is most famous for representing Belarus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005.

Angelica Agurbash: Early Life and Career

Angelica Agurbash was born in Minsk, a city in Belarus. At the time, Belarus was part of the Soviet Union. When she was 18, in 1988, she won the first-ever Miss Belarus title. She was a student at the Belarusian Academy of Arts back then.

Joining the Band Verasy

From 1990 to 1995, Angelica was a member of the popular music group Verasy. During this time, in 1991, she also earned another special title: "Miss Photo USSR." This meant she was the most photographed model in Belarus.

Solo Music Career

After leaving Verasy, Angelica started her solo music career. She released many hit songs and several albums. Some of her early albums included "Paper Moon," "Night Without a Dream," and "For You." In 2002, she released a new album called "The Farewell Kiss of Lika Yalinskaya."

Eurovision Song Contest 2005

Angelica Agurbash was chosen to represent Belarus in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005. This is a big international music competition where countries compete with original songs.

Choosing the Song

Initially, her song for Eurovision was "Boys and Girls." It was a rock ballad. However, the Belarusian TV channel decided to let Angelica sing a different song for the competition in Kyiv, Ukraine. This was a very unusual decision.

She asked two famous composers to write new songs for her. One was Svika Pick, who wrote the winning song "Diva" for Eurovision in 1998. The other was Nikos Terzis. After thinking carefully, Angelica chose a Greek disco song called "Love Me Tonight."

The Performance

Changing the song created a lot of excitement around Belarus's entry. Angelica also wore a special "transformer dress" for her performance. Many people thought she would do very well in the contest. However, she did not make it past the semi-finals. "Love Me Tonight" finished 13th out of 25 songs in the semi-final round.
