Angelle Sampey was born on August 7, 1970, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is an American drag racer. She used to race Pro Stock Motorcycles. Now, she races Top Alcohol Dragsters. Angelle won the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle championship three times. This was from 2000 to 2002.
Since she started racing in 1996, she has achieved amazing things. She has earned a record 45 top-qualifier awards. She also has 46 event victories. This makes her the second-winningest female in NHRA history. It also makes her second in all professional motor sports. On June 23, 2007, in Englishtown, New Jersey, she set a record. She ran her Pro Stock Motorcycle in 6.871 seconds. This was the fastest time ever for her class. After winning in Houston, Texas, on April 1, 2007, she was close to another record. She was only five wins away from the all-time Pro Stock Motorcycle wins record. That record is held by Dave Schultz. Angelle also has a record of 182 races in a row without failing to qualify. This streak started when she first became a professional racer. She has won 364 rounds out of 506 races. This means she wins about 71.9% of her races.
Angelle raced a Suzuki motorcycle from 1996 to 2007. Her main sponsors were Winston and the U.S. Army.

Taking a Break from Racing
Angelle did not race in 2009. This was because she did not have a sponsor. This broke her long streak of qualifying for events. On March 11, 2010, Angelle announced she was retiring from professional drag racing.
A Champion Among Women Racers
Angelle Sampey is one of the few women to win a major motorsports championship. Other famous women racers include Erica Enders, Shirley Muldowney, Brittany Force, and Christina Nielsen. Angelle, Erica Enders, and Shirley Muldowney are special. They are the only female drag racers with more than ten NHRA event wins. They are also the only three women to win more than one championship in their divisions. Shirley Muldowney won three championships in Top Fuel. Erica Enders won five in Pro Stock. Angelle Sampey won three in Pro Stock Motorcycle. Angelle is considered the second-winningest female in professional motorsports history. She has 46 career wins. Erica Enders passed her with her 47th win in 2023.
Angelle also raced under her married names, Angelle Seeling and Angelle Savoie.
Returning to the Track
On September 13, 2014, it was announced that Angelle would return to racing. She raced again before the end of the 2014 NHRA season. She then competed for the championship in 2015. She continued racing until 2022. At the end of the 2022 season, she left the Vance & Hines Suzuki team.
New Challenges in Top Alcohol Dragster
In August 2023, Angelle made a big change. She moved to Top Alcohol Dragster racing. She joined the AB Motorsports Accelerate program with Antron Brown. He is also a former Pro Stock Motorcycle rider. Angelle earned her A/Fuel license in Jasmine Salinas's car. Jasmine is the sister of Jianna Evaristo, another PSM rider. Angelle debuted at the Texas Motorplex. This was to get ready for the 2024 season in this popular class. The plan is for her to race in Top Fuel in the future. In her first race, she qualified 16th. She won her first round against Mike Coughlin. Then she beat Tony Stewart in the second round. She lost to Kirk Wolf in the semifinals.
