Angolemi (which is also called Αγγολέμι in Greek and Taşpınar in Turkish) is a small village in Cyprus. It is located southwest of a town called Morphou. Even though it's officially part of the Nicosia District in Cyprus, it is currently managed by the Lefke District of Northern Cyprus.

What's in a Name? (Etymology)
The name Angolemi has an interesting history! Some people think it was named by the Lusignans. These were French rulers who came to Cyprus a long time ago. They might have named it after a town in France called Angoulême.
There's a story that a knight from Angoulême lived in this village during the Middle Ages. Another idea is that the name comes from a person called Pierre d'Angoulême. He was an important religious leader from Antioch. Local people often just call the village Angolem.
Homes and Buildings (Architecture)
The houses in Angolemi are a mix of old and new. Many of the older homes are made from adobe. Adobe is a natural building material made from earth and organic materials. You can also find newer houses made of concrete.
Since the early 2000s, the village has grown. New buildings have appeared in the fields outside the main village area. Sadly, some houses are empty and not taken care of. This is because many people have moved away to bigger cities like Nicosia. You might even see old, unused vehicles on the streets.
How Many People Live Here? (Demographics)
We know about the population of Angolemi from a long time ago. The first records are from when Mahmud II was in charge. The table below shows how the number of people living in the village has changed over the years.
