Ania Bukstein (Hebrew: אניה בוקשטיין; Russian: Аня Букштейн, Anya Bukshteyn; born 7 June 1982) is an Israeli actress, singer, and pianist. She performs in several languages, including Hebrew, Russian, French, and English.

Early Life and Moving to Israel
Ania Bukstein was born in Moscow, USSR, in 1982. She was an only child in a family of Russian-Jewish background. Her parents are both doctors. Her mother helps people with speech, and her father is a doctor who treats brain tumors.
Growing up in Moscow, Ania started learning to play classical piano at age 5. She remembers studying with a lot of discipline, which was common for children in the Soviet Union. When she was 7 years old, in the early 1990s, she and her parents moved to Israel. Her grandparents still live in Moscow.
Even though she loved piano, Ania gave up her dream of becoming a professional concert pianist after moving to Israel. When she was a teenager, she went to Telma Yalin Arts High School in Givatayim, Israel. After high school, she served for two years as a soldier in the Israeli Air Force Band. She also studied French and received a scholarship to study in Paris.

Music Journey
Ania Bukstein is a talented pianist who trained in classical music. She played many songs on the piano for the musical TV show HaShir Shelanu. In 2013, Ania released her own music album called Sunday. It featured eight songs that she wrote and composed herself. The album was produced by Johnny Goldstein. Some popular songs from the album included "One Day," "No One," and "Seven Minutes."
In June 2017, she worked with DJ Ofer Nissim to release another song called "Boy or Man." Ania also sings classic Israeli songs at special events and ceremonies, including the official Israel Independence Day broadcast. She also performs with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
Acting in Film and TV
Ania started her acting career at age 12. In 1994, she got her first movie role in Eretz Hadasha (A New Country). She played Anna, a young girl who survived the Holocaust and faced challenges after moving to Israel in 1950. For this role, she was nominated for an Ophir Award for best actress, becoming the youngest actress ever nominated in that category.
In 2003, she appeared in the film Matana MiShamayim. In 2005, she co-starred in Shoshelet Schwartz and was nominated for another Ophir Award. That same year, she played Anastasia in the children's TV series Rosh Gadol. In 2006, she joined the musical drama series HaShir Shelanu as Tamara Weiss.
In 2007, Ania starred in the movie The Secrets as Neomi Hess. This film was highly praised. For her role in The Secrets, she won the 'Woman of The Year in Cinema' award at the Israeli 'People of the Year Ceremony' on September 6, 2007. That same year, she played Irena Kovlova in the crime drama series The Arbitrator.
In 2008, she appeared in the Israeli comedy show Kapiot (Spoons). In 2010, she played Adi in the film Kalevet (Rabies). She also appeared in the sitcom Naor's Friends. In 2014, she played Silvy in the comedy series Amamiot. Later that year, she co-starred in False Flag. In this show, she played Asia Brinditch, an Israeli kindergarten teacher who gets involved in a big kidnapping case that is reported all over the world.
In 2016, Ania played Kinvara in the sixth season of the HBO series Game of Thrones. In November, she won the Best Actress award at the PÖFF Festival for her role in A Quiet Heart, which also won the award for Best Film. In 2017, Ania appeared in the American TV series Genius. She played Margarita Konenkova, a Russian spy who had a close connection with Albert Einstein.
Theater Performances
Ania has also performed in many plays and musicals.
- In 1998, she was in a children's play called Tzav Tzav HaMelech (King Turtle Turtle).
- In 2002, she starred in Baalat HaArmon (The Palace Owner).
- In 2005, she performed in the drama play Milhama (War) at Habima Theatre. For this role, she won the Israeli Theater Award for 'Most Promising Actress of The Year'.
- During the Hanukkah holiday in 2007, she was in the musical Narnia at Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center.
- In 2008, she played in the musical Oliver! at the Beit Lessin Theater.
- In 2010, she played Hayyah in Joshua Sobol's play Ghetto at the Cameri Theater.
- In 2013, she starred as Maria von Trapp in the Israeli version of the musical The Sound of Music at Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center.
- Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Ania played Elle Woods in the Israeli production of Legally Blonde.
Voice Acting Roles
Ania Bukstein has also lent her voice to many characters in Hebrew versions of popular films and TV shows.
- In 1994, she voiced Marie in the Hebrew version of the 1970 film The Aristocats.
- She also narrated and sang the intro song for Dick Bruna's Miffy Storybook Classics: The Original Series.
- In 2002, she voiced Jane in the Hebrew version of Return to Never Land.
- From 2003 to 2006, she was the voice of Clover in Totally Spies! on Disney Channel Israel.
- From 2004 to 2007, she voiced Daphne Blake in the Scooby-Doo series.
- She voiced Susan Pevensie in the Hebrew version of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in 2005.
- In 2006, she voiced Princess Selenia in the Hebrew version of Arthur and the Invisibles.
Personal Life
Ania Bukstein married Israeli real estate developer Dotan Weiner in 2013. They had their first daughter in 2018. Ania can speak Russian, Hebrew, French, Italian, and English.
