Animal Antics is a fun British TV show for kids. It was made for pre-school children. The show aired on Channel 5 as part of its Milkshake block.

It was one of the first original children's shows on Channel 5. It started when the channel launched in 1997. The series was created by Two Side Productions. It first ran for 80 episodes.

Even though there was only one main series, four spin-off shows were made. These spin-offs aired between 2001 and 2015. Derek Griffiths narrated all of them. The show was nominated for a BAFTA award twice!

About Animal Antics

Animal Antics was a very important show for Channel 5's 'Milkshake!' block. It was one of the first new shows when the channel began in 1997. Each episode told stories about wild animals and farm animals.

The show looked at their lives in their natural homes. Derek Griffiths narrated these stories. He made each animal sound funny and unique. It was like watching a "fly on the wall" documentary. This means the cameras watched without disturbing the animals.

The show aired on weekday mornings. Some episodes also showed on weekends. This was during a block called Tickle, Patch and Friends. Animal Antics has been shown in many countries. It even aired on Nick Jr.

A special Welsh version of Insect Antics was also made. It was called 'Y Crads Bach' and aired on S4C in 2000. Later, in 2018, episodes started appearing on the 'Wizz' YouTube channel. This means new kids can still enjoy the show!

More Animal Antics Shows!

After the original Animal Antics became popular, new versions were created. These are called "spin-off" series. They kept the same fun style but focused on different topics.

Little Antics

In 2001, a new series called Little Antics was made. There were 40 episodes in this series. Like the original, it watched people's lives in a "fly on the wall" way.

This time, the show followed young children. It showed their lives both in and out of school. Many scenes were in a reception class in Malvern. Derek Griffiths narrated again, along with Jan Francis. Lisa Evans directed this series. It was also shown again on Tiny Living in 2003.

Insect Antics

Another 40-episode series aired in 2003. This one was called Insect Antics. Derek Griffiths narrated it once more. Tracy Nampala directed this series.

This show focused on the lives of tiny insects. Victoria Arlidge created the music for these episodes. One episode from Insect Antics was even included on a DVD. It was on the 'Milkshake! Treats' DVD in 2005.

Aussie Antics

In 2004, 40 more episodes were released. This series was named Aussie Antics. It also showed different animals in their natural homes.

However, this time the show focused on animals that live in Australia. You could see kangaroos, koalas, and more! Tracy Nampala also directed this series.

Seaside Antics

The newest set of episodes started airing in 2015. This series was called Seaside Antics. There were 20 episodes in this collection.

This show followed many different animals. These animals all lived by the sea. Catherine Robins produced this series. It aired ten years after the last spin-off. Derek Griffiths narrated this series too. It is the most recent Antics show to be aired.
