Early Life and Education
Ann-Marie Holmes grew up in Roscommon Town, which is in County Roscommon, Ireland. She studied at Trinity College Dublin. In 1991, she earned a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and Maths. She is married to Paul and has two children, Cian and Ruth.
Ann-Marie's Career at Intel
After finishing college in 1991, Ann-Marie joined Intel as a process engineer. Intel is a very big technology company. She has worked in all four of Intel's main manufacturing facilities in Ireland. These are places where computer chips are made.
Starting Out at Intel
Ann-Marie started as a process engineer in a facility called Fab 10. Later, she became a Diffusion Group leader in Fab 14. In 2001, she moved to Fab 24 in Leixlip, Co.Kildare, as a transfer manager.
Becoming a Factory Manager
Ann-Marie kept working hard and moved up in the company. In 2012, she became a factory manager. In this role, she was in charge of making sure the factory produced computer chips very well. She also helped prepare the factory for new technologies.
Intel invested a lot of money, about $5 billion, into its facilities. After this, Ann-Marie became responsible for running the 14 nanometer (nm) process technology. This process makes very tiny and powerful computer chips.
Leading the Leixlip Site
Today, Ann-Marie is responsible for all the manufacturing at the Fab 24 site in Leixlip. Intel bought this site in 1989 and has invested over $15 billion there. This makes it the largest private investment ever in Ireland. She also manages more than 4,500 people who work at the Leixlip site.

Vice President at Intel
In 2016, she was named a vice president of Intel’s technology and manufacturing group. This is a very high position in the company. She was only the 8th Irish person and the 3rd Irish woman to reach such a senior role at Intel.
Fellow of Engineering
Also in 2016, Ann-Marie became a Fellow of Engineering. This is the highest award someone can get from Engineers Ireland. It shows that she is a top leader and a very skilled engineer. Ann-Marie has worked at Intel for over 27 years, spending her entire career there.
